Happy Father's day to all the wonderful dads, grand dads & step dads. To those who no longer have their dad's with them, have a peaceful day.

My papa passed away on Aug 29, 2018, he had just turned 86 in July. We were very close. I was away from my family for 23 years and in 2009 my parents came to US and I had a chance to get to know them as an adult. I'm grateful I had this chance, my papa was an introvert, gentle, generous, intelligent, a very hard worker, headstrong and God loving, and ALWAYS grateful until the last day of his life. as he fought a great fight with cancer, never complained about what he was going through. A true gentleman with a good heart. We had a few years to create new memories and a stronger bond. What was interesting to me was his sense of style. And, he was very honest about his opinions too, he had a very good eye for fit and proportion, if he gave his OK I knew I was good to go He enjoyed and appreciated both my mom's and my creations. When mom or I wanted to sew a new garment, he would touch the fabric before we cut it and give his blessings. It's been very difficult for me to get back to sewing. Months of care taking and then grieving, left me with not even caring about clothing - then I was mostly wearing black the first few months. I had immersed myself in reading and researching about nutrition - which might become my new direction, if I can find an affordable school. Slowly, I'm coming out to play again finding peace and comfort in this wonderful YLF community, enjoying reading Angie's blogs and everyone's comments and seeing beautiful, inspirational outfits. I'm getting back to the joy of creating and buying new clothes. I know it will make my papa happy. Thank you for reading and for providing a place to feel safe to share my thoughts.
