A Couple Outfits From the Sportsfan Capsule

Hello.

I have a lot of capsules in my wardrobe but one I've never shown on YLF is my sportsfan capsule!

I've been a fan of the NJ Devils since the mid 90s, and I've accumulated a fair amount of fan gear over the years. The items in this capsule are mostly toppers, ie hoodies, tees, jerseys, jackets, fleeces, and I normally pair these items with jeans.

I did buy the red sneakers specifically for my NJ Devils gear, because the color was a perfect match and I can't pass up a matchy, matchy moment. Before I owned the red sneakers, I wore black sneakers or occasionally black boots. But the red are much more fun!

My sister is also a fan of the NJ Devils, and we send each other WIW photos on game days. I happen to still have these pictures on my phone and thought it would be fun to share.

Does anyone else have a sportsfan capsule?

Cute stuff! I am a fan of any red and black motif. I am not a sports fan, but when I was married before, I had a cute pair of Iowa Hawkeyes earrings. I also had bought my then-husband a Hawkeye ugly Christmas sweater. I think they make those for a lot of teams.

I will also share the local minor league team here--the Isotopes. They are named after the nuclear work done here in New Mexico. You can see the logo is a bunch of electrons shooting around.

Well, yes, and I left it out of my capsule list a few days ago. It’s my red bin. I have a few red sweaters, fleece vest and jacket, which I wear only to our college basketball and football games. I don’t really like wearing red except for a pair of shorts, or a limited amount in patterns, and I’m pretty happy when the red season is over. So to keep them out of my way, they’re stored in a small bin instead of integrating them into the rest of my closet.

You look good in your sports-fan hoodies and tees, and of course the matching sneakers, I especially like the hoodie outfit in 1. I'm also glad that one identified what the team plays, because I was going to have to look it up--haha!

No sports fan capsule for me. I think I have seen Janet rocking her Baltimore Orioles wear here on the forum.

Carol—I LOVE that team name/logo! I had no idea.

I am a lifelong Red Sox fan, live literally two blocks from Fenway Park, and go to five or six baseball games a year … yet somehow I have exactly zero fan gear.

I used to have a college football collection, but am not keeping it up. The coaches and players have zero loyalty to the school in the current transfer portal and NIL system, and the team moved to a different conference with a travel schedule that means I would need to travel to some dreary places to see them play. So I am out.

Looking NJ Devils Chic!

OF COURSE you have red sneakers that match perfectly, Lisa! I expected nothing less - fun to share the tradition with your sis!

We support the Seattle Kracken. (Hockey team). We walk to the arena from our loft, which is AWESOME. Their colours are navy, cream and aqua. Here is us with dear friends a year ago after we won the game. All fably matched with Kracken beanies and in navy!

I have a few SF Giants things. Even though I live miles away, I’m still a fan. We went to Candlestick when I was a kid, and sat in the bleachers. My brothers brought their mitts. We were only twenty feet from Willie Mays! The only drawback to the Giants - orange and black.

I don't have a sports capsule but maybe my little collection of graphic tees/sweatshirts featuring various wildlife is "my version" of a sports capsule. Actually it kind of tickles me to think of things this way! Maybe I should wear my humpback whale sweatshirt while writing about humpbacks tomorrow.

cjh - Your red bin makes me think once I finish shifting my wardrobe away from a core of black I'll have something similar in the future. A red and black bin for my NJ Devils gear. I may wear red at other times because it pairs well with blues and I have a lot of blues, but I can see me only wearing black as NJ Devils gear (and maybe a sentimental item or two that I don't end up editing out of my closet).

Cookie - How fun you are closet to the stadium and I'm impressed you have no fan gear! I'm always tempted to come home with something new when I go to a home game, because they have such a nice selection at the stadium.

cat2 - Sorry to hear that the college team moved to a different conference and travel schedule. That is frustrating!

Angie - *high five fellow hockey fan* I love the photo of everyone in their navy blue and Kracken beanies. The Kracken have one of the best color combinations in the NHL for their uniforms.

That is so nice that you can WALK to the arena! In NJ I was about an hour drive to the stadium and in NC it's also about an hour to the stadium! (Except now I only get to see the NJ Devils live twice during the season, when they play the local team the Hurricanes.)

Haha Lisa, despite having spent my formative years in NJ, I had to check to see which sport the Devils play . I think that answers your question about my sports capsule. Regardless, you look super - I especially like the graphic in #2.
