A couple of things I got in Paris

Here are a couple of the things I got at COS in Paris.
COS is my new favorite store- I loved almost everything there!

First is an ink blue high-low semi-sheer drapey shirt. I have been wearing this shirt at every opportunity since I bought it. It has so much movement and drapiness- I just love it! For some reason it photographs lighter than it really is- it's really more of an ink blue.

The second is a marled gray knit dress with sort of a wedge shape, and interesting notched sleeves. It's super comfortable and a really nice knit that just skims the body and doesn't show bumps and bulges. I think it's going to be able to be dressed up or down, and should be great for travel

It's funny, but if I had seen either of these on line I wouldn't have given them a second look. They really look different when worn.

So, this isn't a K/R, but I would welcome styling suggestions or comments!

I need to do a separate post on hair advice. In these pictures my hair is in its naturally curly state, which my husband adores, but I'm not so sure at all.

Those are both gorgeous items, I especially love the blouse.
Online shopping can be very deceiving, nothing like try things on.

As for styling suggestions, it looks as if you have got that sorted already! And that includes your hair, which I like this way as much as the other way. So nice to have choices.

OMG ! 10 and 10 ! You are so right in that when I looked at them through the links, they looked "meh".

But then your photos...POW. Just another example of why we should try things on even when there is not hanger appeal.

Thank you all for your comments, and it's interesting that the curly hair gets support. I was sort of afraid that it made me look like a crazy lady, aging hippy, or frumpy!

Caro, do you mean darker tights, or the way I wore it in #4?

Both pieces are amazing on you. I can see why you are wearing that shirt often already, and the dress is just as stunning. I love the way you've styled the dress in both photos. The necklace in the second photo (5) is incredible, especially the way it plays up your hair and eyes.

Other styling ideas: I'd like to see the blouse over white jeans; any color of skinny pants with low-vamped flats or pumps; silky track pants (do you have the Eileen Fisher ones?).

Do you have tiger's eye jewelry that would work with the dress? The pumps in 5 (which look so fab with the dress) sent my mind in that direction.

ETA: I like your hair this way; the waves are really pretty on you!

I think white jeans will be great with the blue top.
i thought about my EF silk slouchy pants, and wasn't sure if the volume over volume would make me look as big as a house. I'll have to try it and find out!

Good idea about the tiger's eye necklace. I do have one I could try. Actually, I wasn't sure if the tortoise wedges were a fail with the dress, but I'm realizing that I have a wardrobe hole of no black heels except open-toes.

Both pieces are stellar. The blue color really suits you! I think you've styled them well here. As for the hair, I think your curls are fab! I never wear mine any other way, and think they are part of my signature.

Both are stunning! The grey marle dress is just beautiful. And the colour and cut of the blouse is pefect. I really like your hair curly and straight When it's curly, the curls form really well and you still look 'groomed'. Some curly hair styles look to RATE for me.

Both excellent choices. The dress could also go very casual with layers, a big poets scarf, boots- it looks wonderfully versatile.

Parsley, the blouse is just amazing. I don't have an adjective to do it justice, actually. And I really love the dress on you, too. I would style these pieces just as you have. They are architecturally interesting, so you don't want to clutter them up.

Your hair looks fantastic, too. It's very modern and on-trend. If it ain't broke, don't fix!

OMG you are so adorable and stylish! I LOVE the blue shirt and think it would look amazing with any tighter-fitting bottom. Think shorts, pencil skirts, cropped pants, etc. I would also love to see it tucked into a high-waisted item.

Deborah, I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that sometimes curls can look RATE. As much as I admire RATE looks on others I'm compulsive enough that I'm not comfortable unless I'm pretty polished.

I think you could treat #2 as a tunic - perhaps belted over skinnies to dress it down? Or perhaps with bright shoes or hose for accent? Your styling of it is pure classic elegance.

Beautiful! I like the bolder necklace with the dress--I think it likes simple chunky things.
Your post is a great reminder to try on, try on. I am really bad about eyeing something and saying, nah! In one sense it saves time, but I too would have missed some cool items if I'd stuck in my rut. YLF is also helpful because the photos help us see, whoa, I didn't know THAT was what you need to get THIS look ! and try things.
