A couple of spring purchases...

I kind of lost the spring shopping season (due to Mr. Nancy's illness), so now I'm trying to make up for lost time. Here are a couple of purchases:

#1-2 - Joie "owl" motif top (click on link to see details). I love owls and decided to go for the whimsical print look.

#3-4 - Ann Taylor patterned skirt

I wore the owl blouse with white skinnies this week (sorry...no pic!), and I'm happy with how it looks with pants. But I'm wondering if it looks too "maternity" with the pencil skirt. Opinions?

Also open for styling tips for these pieces...I just threw them on without much thought to styling. Thanks!

I love both of these new pieces and they seem to fit you really well. What about belting the owl top with the white skirt? You could then pull it up slightly to create a blouson effect at the waist. I like the tops you've picked for the patterned skirt. Again you might try belting the black one. You could also try some tops in brighter colours with it. Is it black and white, or black and taupe? Or how about a touch of animal print somewhere?

The outfits look great. I don't see a maternity look with the white skirt. I think black heels would look great with the Ann Taylor skirt.

Such nice tops for warm weather! I was also thinking like missvee about a belt with the top in #2 but the loose look on a hot day seems appropriate and cool. The full top looks great on your slim figure but some may think maternity with the skirt.

Super cute pieces! I think that in pic #2 a belt over the top or the top tucked and then belted would look great. Both the blouses in #3 and #4 work great with the patterned skirt. Again a belt over the top of the tops or tucked and then belted would be great options. I like the nude shoes but of course black or a colorful sandal would work well. A cropped jacket in denim or color would also look cool with all the outfits.

Love the owl top! I have a thing for owls too, so I can totally see the appeal :). I think it looks great with the skinnies and okay with the skirt. Maybe try tucking into the skirt? Could look chic...Or try a skirt that's darker, so it's lower contrast? Love the new AT skirt!

How fun that your husband is on the mend and now you can enjoy your time together, *and* make up for lost shopping time! Happy spring, Nancy!

Love your new top and skirt. No hint of maternity with that top and both items seem very versatile. The top with white skinnies sounds perfect.

Lovely new pieces, Nancy! The owl top is super cute. Love the styling suggestions you've received, but definitely think you can get away with it like this in super hot weather. Your skirt is terrific and those look like wonderful, easy summer looks. Did you try it with the Reports, too?

It's great to see you post Nancylee! I love these flowy looks, and you're doing everything right for this season's trends. I don't know if you saw them, but Angie wrote a blog post on wearing volume with volume and another on how to de-bombshell a pencil skirt, and you are giving a perfect pictoral of both of these here. These looks work, and look fresh and cool for spring/summer!

Lovely pieces and lovely styling! Another who loves owls here, that print is too cute. I think the owl print top would look great with a more tapered pencil skirt; this one makes the silhouette kind of wide up and down. Really liking the nude shoes with the AT printed skirt, very springy.

Your owl top is cute, and I bet it looked great over white skinnies.

I have that same AT skirt, and I like how you've styled it. It's so comfortable, isn't it? And I really like the back exposed zipper.

The other day I was at my AT store and the SA was wearing the same skirt with a bright orange shell and cardigan belted over it. I never would have thought to put that together, but it looked really cute. I like it with either nude shoes or black sandals.
