90s calling

In a previous post https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/90s-style I mentioned how many pieces from then I still had and wanted to update.

Outfits using the wide leg pants hemmed to floor duster length and the boots are from late 90s/ early 00s.

ETA: 1 dress worn long then belted, black cotton/viscose summer day dress meant to try out two pairs of 90s/00s boots. Dress is boho-ish. Boots are black suede winkle-pickers and dove-grey suede ruched boots similar in shape to a pair in the nas catalogue.

Any of these work?

I think that the last one 11-12 with the striped shirt looks most “now.”

Bit hard to tell what is going on with the all black outfits in terms of how they are photographed. I’m not sure how many different all black looks you are showing us. Seem like traditional evening moderately dressy event attire.

The tunic, I’d personally prefer with any color wide leg trousers besides black, because I feel like black plus the length draws the eye downward too much.

The dress is very cute with both pairs of boots. It’s fun that NAS has similar styles in their current catalog!

The jeans are nice, but in my mind, they need to make a decision: do they want to be trousers and fall straight from the hip? Or do they want to be flares? If so, they need to be tailored closer on the hip and thigh. My opinion is that the tunic needs flares to contrast the floaty tunic top and the black tee needs the trouser cut. I’ve done the simple alteration to tighten up the top leg line on flares myself at home, but if the jeans are truly trouser cut, that may not lend itself to a simple alteration.

Bj1111 Thanks for clarifications. I didn’t put it together that these were the dark jeans that you were previously mentioning, because I do agree with ChrisM that they do seem to give more the impression of wider leg trousers rather than flared jeans. Unlike her, I think that the shape is kind of fun and that you should consider them as slightly exaggerated trouser jeans and go from there. Knowing that they are blue helps with the impression of the tunic outfit, but in that case I think you might instead do some sort of cork or straw wrapped wedge or clog to reference the main color and texture and color of the hat. I think that would help to keep the vibe more casual.

The explanation about the boots is helpful. I like the clothing with the more rounded toe boots more. I don’t really think that the leg elongating property of the pointy toe is used for any specific effect in the outfit: they aren’t added to be in contrast to anything. For example the pointy toe boots might be fun with a cropped flare pant which might really benefit from that visual elongation.

@ChrisM and @3style, interesting opposing perspectives. i do have a pair of wedge espadrilles that i would wear with the hat, but would lose the ppl. will try them on. i'm still dragging on cropped flares or culottes.

I like the dress both belted and unbelted. The ruched boots looks ok to me (I have a similar pair), second I'm less sure about so maybe Anna or Angie could give us a hand there. They might work better under flares. Dark denim looks fine to me (9-12), neither here nor there. Just... jeans. Good length with flats. I do prefer then with the longer tunic-y top (9/10) than the tucked tee (11/12).

I definitely like the dress belted with a little sliver of leg above the boot. The hem of the dress is really pretty and shows up better that way. The sleeves are very long, so having the dress be a little higher balances that I think.
