8 lipsticks: for Runcarla and Joy

Hi all, I loved Carla's lipstick thread and was also amused that Joy had one lipstick the same as me "Kiss Me Coral" and also one that I like and had bought my best friend for Christmas "Wine With Everything". So for fun and interest I've been photographing my lipsticks! I see I've still managed to accidentally duplicate 3 pink ones. Partly as I bought 3 for the price of 2 Revlons at Christmas to give my friend her gift cost-effectively. I took my 2 favourite almost finished corals with me and put them on my hand with a lip brush then compared. "Kiss Me Coral" was so close so yay I could chuck the old ones. And I saw then the perfect gift for my wine-loving friend. So to make up the 3 I thought I'd find a pink I love. I partly choose on names I like too. "Gentlemen Prefer Pink" is reminiscent of the movie "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" which I've enjoyed. Marilyn Monroe singing "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" is a lovely historical forerunner to Madonna singing "Material Girl"-do watch them one after the other if you never have. And as I've never had the good fortune to be a blonde again since the age of 6 then referencing "having more fun" in lipstick instead is a nod to it!
My other new favourites are an Australian brand called Natio. I've replaced my best warm red that was Maybelline "Toasted Almond" with Natio "Playful". And am in the process of replacing my fave my-lips-but-better Max Factor "Penny Candy" with Natio "Sienna". Taking the old tubes to the store works so well. I didn't mean to end up with 3 such similar warm pinks though. Guess I won't need any for a while. "Misty Mauve" was inherited from a daughter I think, but "Carnation" was picked by me and seems very similar to the new "Gentlemen Prefer Pink".

I will end up with 7 soon. It feels about right? Maybe too many with the similar pinks.

Jenni, that is so thoughtful of you. I enjoyed your story.
Kiss Me Coral is my all time favorite and lights up my face. I absolutely have to avoid bluish colors as they gat even more blue on my lips. My last purchases were disappointing because they didn't have enough pigment. I would like to find a good peach, orange, and brownish red or rust (not a burgundy...too blue).

I have kiss me coral too, and gentleman prefer pink. Kiss me coral is a fun one :). Gentlemen prefer pink isn’t very noticeable on me.
You have a fab collection! I like you best in playful, tropicana and carnation.
Have you tried the Revlon long wear lipsticks? They’re absolutely amazing but don’t come in as wide a range of colours.

Hi Jussie that's cool you have some of the same ones. I don't think I have tried the Revlon long wear ones. I was disappointed Revlon could not match the red or the my-lips colours but happy to find Natio.

Ooh Lipstick - I love them. You look great in all of these, I think it is fun to match my lipstick with the colours I am wearing, so I have a large selection of different colours ranging from nudes to brights - but I don't wear dark colours as they make me look like a vampire. I do love names of lipsticks too. Gentlemen prefer Pink is a very cute name and makes me want to try it! Marilyn was such a classic beauty.

What a lovely collection of lippy colours you have.I love the names they give them as well,only yesterday my daughter and I were agreeing that our ideal job was namer of lipsticks and nail varnishes.Hours of fun!I think they all suit you beautifully ,thank you for showing us.

You can wear bright and glossy lipstick really well Jenny - and have a great selection of colours. I had to laugh at your "how many do you have?" question . And duplicates? You don't even want to know. Every once in awhile, when my storage box (and old metal cookie box ) gets full, I get rid of the ones I don't wear. I bet I have 50 lipsticks at any one time - which when one does the math, one wants to throw up. I love makeup the way you love shoes

Fair enough Lisap! They may cost less per item than shoes as well!
