30x30 so far - not happy with my bottoms

I am just couple of days on the road with my 30x30 travel capsule and I am already not satisfied with the choices I made regarding bottoms. It is very hot, arround 37 degrees during the day and cooling down at night to minimum of 25 degrees. I am fine with my at home wear that consists of shorts and tees but my going out bottoms are all wrong, They are either too warm and uncomfortable or too casual. I am currently visiting my parents in my small hometown and going out during the day to see relatives and high school friends, and do some errands. I am now really regretting that I did not go shopping before the trip and got at least one hot weather appropriate dress or skirt. And unfortunately this is really small town with limited shopping opportunities so shopping here is not really an option.

Ugh, Anchie, being uncomfortable is no fun! I'm always cold and think your choices look fine for that weather, but that doesn't help you any!

How long will you be there? Could you order something with quick shipping? Borrow a skirt from a cousin or good friend?

This time of year it is very hard to predict weather and the needs it creates. You are probably already rolling hems up. I would be tempted to do a hack job on some of these bottoms. Here's to some cooler weather.

I am so sorry to hear this. I thought your 30 x 30 travel capsule looked perfect. How long will you be at your present location? Will there be shopping opportunities at the next location?

That's one good thing about working with a capsule of clothes, you can spot pretty fast where your wardrobe holes are.

Oh dear...I hate it when that happens! I guess experiences like these make us better prepared the next time we travel!

I traveled to London once and was ill prepared for the cold temperatures...I was so focused on packing minimally I didn't prepare for how cold and wet is was...lesson learned...I make sure I pack gloves and a thin layering warm sweater whenever I travel ( unless it's the tropics)!

That's a really tough situation to be in. Since the local shopping is so bad, could you mail order a couple things to be more comfortable?

That is very hot. My sympathies. I can see why your bottoms are uncomfortable. But that wasn't a capsule error - just the unpredictability of weather. In that kind of heat, dresses are almost the only thing I can wear. Anyone you can borrow a skirt or dress from?

Any thrift shops in that town? Even if it's not your thing, might do in a pinch...

Oh, that is super hot! No wonder you are uncomfortable. Too many long pants and too much denim. Even white denim, which looks lovely and cool, can still feel hot in such heat. A casual day dress would be so helpful in this situation. Hmmm. I don't suppose you have a friend of a similar size (and taste)? Perhaps someone could lend you something. I have been on both ends of that from time to time while travelling.

This is not a fail on your part. Weather can be so unpredictable and even if temperatures are listed, it can be difficult for us to imagine how 37 will feel if we are living in temps of 20 or so when we pack. I have a similar problem if I am going anywhere warmer during my winter.

This is why I separate my summer and winter clothes and don't keep them hanging all together. It's just impossible for me to make sense of the voile blouse and the heavy wool sweater at the same time!

We are here until Saturday, and next stop is a big city with good shopping. So only 3 more days of suffering in the heat.
Suz is absolutely right, I knew that it will be hot, but we had cold and rainy spring and I just couldn't imagine how this temperatures would feel. Too much denim which I can't stand in the heat. White jeans look summery but they are thick, stiff and tight.
I am meeting my best friend from childhood today which I have not seen in a long time. I will definitely ask her about local shopping, maybe she will have some good tips. Things have changed here since I left this town 30 years ago.

Anchie, I understand you completely I am in Europe and suddenly started to be hot. Here is these days 35 degrees Celsius. Spring was changeable but mostly cold. I agree with Suz and wish you nice days.

I love denim, but put it away during summer months. There is just no way I could wear it with comfort.

The idea of thrifting a dress or two is great. Perhaps your friend will have some ideas. Good luck.

Oh, I commiserate. Being far from home with the wrong clothes is so irritating. I hope your friend can help you. There must be a pretty breezy dress even in that small town!
