30 x 30 What I learnt

The 30 x 30 is coming to an end and I feel like it was a great learning experience.

First I have a defined style and colour to my wardrobe that I really like. This has happened partly because of my planning and partly organically.

Second I have wardrobe holes. The 30 x 30 helped identify some of the holes. Now I will go to work on trying to find fillers. Jeans are on the list.

Third I want to figure out how to take my own WIWs. Getting Mr. SF to always take to pics means very few WIWs.

I agree that your style and palette are well-defined. I feel like I could identify your "finds" fairy easily from a mixed group. The bittersweet, olive, and indigos that I've seen you wear are harmonious and flattering to you. Please figure out a photo-taking solution I'd like to see more WIW's from you.

YAY for you. Great lessons. Did it surprise you that you had holes? I was a little surprised when I identified some in my wardrobe.

fashiontern, the challenge was initiated by Sterling. Posts get out of order in the forum because some are updated or brought forward by continued activity. A bunch of us participated. We interpreted the rules somewhat individually.

The gist of it was to choose 30 items of clothing and to dress from those items for 30 days. Some of us included shoes, bags, and accessories and some didn't.

Thanks Emily. I need to figure out a timer on my phone camera. I am definitely consistent in many areas of my life.
Sterling I was surprised about some of the holes. But this summer has never happened. It has rained non stop since we got back from Florida. That was the middle of April.
Thanks Emily for linking the challenge info. I expect the forum will be into the NAS for awhile.

Style Fan, I learned some of the same things from this challenge. I wish I had done a 30x30 in the fall and again in the winter at least once in order to identify holes and wardrobe needs in my cold weather wardrobe before going into NAS. I will have to put it on the calendar for next year.

Thanks StyleFan.

I am no expert with WIW but use the self timer (3 sec or 10 sec) propped on the kitchen bench, and switch it around in selfie mode.

It seemed we all learnt something and had fun along the way!

Joy -- a seasonal 30 x 30 is a great idea. I don't think the average persons would need to go the full thirty days though. I discovered my holes soon after the first two weeks. Did it you longer to start to see holes?

Joy that is a great idea. The summer 30 x 30 challenge has helped me so I am sure a seasonal one would work well. 30 x 30 has a nice ring to it. Of course we don't have to keep to the 30 days.
Sal I will do some experimenting with my phone. Thanks for the idea.
Sterling I realized holes very quickly. I also realized I reached for the same things over and over. Some of the my 30s never got worn.

Rachy my summer wardrobe is very lean. I am desperate for warm weather bottoms especially now that I don't wear shorts. I can get by with 2 or 3 because our summer is very short and I don't mind repeating.
The clothes I excluded were not Olive green and I did not find myself missing them. I plan on looking at them very carefully and perhaps putting some in a holding zone. After looking at the NAS it appears that Olive is making a big showing so I may need to really take a good look at what I need.

I KNOW, Style Fan. Some of my 30 items never got worn!!!! This was as enlightening as discovering the wardrobe holes. I actually made the decision to pass over some items and repeat others. WHY? I don't know to the day. They were very carefully selected items. Why would I choose not to wear them? This is very perplexing.
