30 x 30 Update - YouLookFab Forum

Since I last posted I have added a few things to my 30 x 30. I added my Levis, J Crew Green Long Sleeved T and Ann Taylor Cashmere Sweater. My Paige Jeans wore out. They are completely transparent in the bottom.
What I have learnt:
1/ I do not mind repeating outfits. I will wear something that is comfortable over and over.
2/ I get very attached to certain things. I am now attached to my Sanctuary Peace Trooper pants. I wear them constantly.
3/ I stick to certain colours. I have quite the collection of olive green tops and toppers in my wardrobe. I won't wear other colours outside of my comfort zone.

I ordered and received the denim crop top that Lisa p suggested. I have returned it. It was very cute and Mr SF said "I want to like it". It was big in the shoulders which meant it stuck out. Mr SF thought I should size down. Unfortunately I got the smallest size. Back it went.

We went to see Bob Dylan on July 2. He was excellent! It was pouring rain. I wore my Levis (I had no choice), cream T shirt, cognac Sarah Pacini sweater and cognac Birks. The venue was freezing.

I spent today in Burlington and Oakville shopping for jeans. No luck.

It's been interesting following everyone doing the 30x30 challenge to see what they've learned about their choices + whether they are working out or not. Undoubtedly a useful exercise.

It has been very useful for me lozz. I am using my capsule for when I travel. It is also helping me with my shopping list.

It sounds like you needed to add some items for when you need warmth like at that concert. I enjoyed reading what you are doing and how the capsule is working for you.

Yes Joy our weather has been all over the place. Finally we are getting some warmth. I have also learnt to bring a pashmina with me at all times!

I am so sorry to hear about the top. I thought it was perfect for you. Having said that, you were wise to return something that didn't work for you. There will be better tops in your future.

Like you, I am a serially repeater of certain things. Certain items strike my fancy and I feel I could wear them forever. Style Fan -- I am keeping count of the number of wears. Even though I "feel" I am wearing certain items at least every other day, the number do not bear that out. Do you feel you are repeating a lot, only to find out that you are not?

Olive looks beautiful on you. Good choice for a favorite color.

Like Sterling, I am keeping track of what I wear and have had some surprises which I'll address when posting my 30x 30 week 3, but it adds to the learning from doing this challenge.

I think with your cohesive style and colour range you are well suited to a capsule or similar type wardrobe. I am also a happy repeater and my only "fail" day IMO so far came when I tried to tweak my combining pieces in a new way when I should have just repeated!!

Good luck jeans shopping, it is never easy. But where they will be well worn it is worth hanging out for the right ones.

Sterling I was disappointed about the top but I knew I would not wear it. It was a fantasy life top. I wanted it to look a certain way. Mr SF thought it needed to open at the front. I think he is right. A v neck or scoop neck would work better on me. Also I have mini shoulders and sizing is tricky.
I am definitely repeating outfits. I change my tops but the bottoms are the same. Combat pants over and over. Perhaps I should get them in the plain olive.
I do not look forward to jeans shopping. I don't wear skinnies and that seems to be very popular in the stores.
Sal I do like the capsule concept a lot. It appeals to my love of organizing.

You look great in the photo but I am sorry about your worn-out jeans. I want to say "bummer."

I hope you find a great replacement soon, and it seems you're learning some good things from the challenge. I agree with Sal that you are a natural for this type of dressing.

Suz the Paige jeans were very thin denim. I am not surprised they wore out. "Bummer" is right. Finding a replacement is tricky. I am not a fan of skinnies and I don't want to do jeans shopping online. Actually I am not sure how I would do online shopping for jeans without driving myself crazy.

It sounds as if the challenge is proving useful to you, SF. I'm sure that with your cohesive wardrobe and colour palette, this is second nature to you. Love the outfit you're posting, but sorry about the jeans. Good luck with the search for a replacement.

I hate shopping for jeans. My favourite pair split recently (yes, bummer). I repaired them and then they split again. So I figured it was time for us to part I have put off looking for a new pair. Like going to the dentist. Sigh! Hopefully there is a straight or wide leg pair out there for you somewhere.
I like your outfit. Your style is so cohesive. You make it look easy but I think you are quite picky (I mean that as a compliment) and that pays dividends in terms of style.

Thank you Summer. I have been working on my wardrobe for a few years and it has finally come together. Brooklyn jeans are so important to our style and I think that is part of the reason they are hard to replace. And yes I am picky.
