2022 Purchases and advice needed!

Hope you are keeping well and enjoying the upcoming Spring!

2022 has been going so fast, yet I am still trying to learn how to navigate the new normal and have been very careful with my purchases. So far I have only purchased

- a bag in a soft cream colour for spring and summer. I have been looking for a cream / white bag for a couple of years and hope to have made the right choice! I will look after it as best as I can, it would be a shame to damage it!

- a pair of cream derby shoes. I am interested to see how they will hold as they are super comfy for now. They are made from a recycled material (plastic bottle) and could be even cleaned in the wash machine

- a rose jumpsuit that made my heart skip a few times! Love the colour and can't wait for the good weather to arrive!

This month, I wanted to add a suit and have spotted this beautiful dark aquamarine Armani suit in a wool and viscose blend. It's a preloved piece and I know that I will fit in that size. The seller has accepted my super low offer and I am not sure how to proceed since the price is tempting but I just realised that I misread the description, the advert is only for the blazer, the trousers have been sold separately a while ago.

What should I do? How would you style this blazer? Would it work as a separate?

So beautiful pieces for summer. I love blue suit especially blazer and I think it would be very versatile. You can wear it with many colors, white, black, gray, cream, jeans, brown, beige and so many depending on shades.

If you like colors, also red and pale pink, fuchsia ....

I am envious that you have been so careful with purchases. I have made so many mistakes by casting lines in all directions.

I love the color of the blazer! That blue green would go so well with lots of other colors. Too bad it doesn’t come with the trousers because that would make a gorgeous suit. I think I might have trouble with the double breasted feature as a separate, but my lifestyle is very casual.

Welcome on board the berry boat! Wasn’t the jumpsuit you considered last summer also a pinky color? That’s amazing persistence.

I like the blazer and am curious how you’ll wear it. Personally, I know it wouldn’t work for me, so I only have the most general of suggestions, like over something with a pattern that includes that shade of blue. Mind-blowing suggestion, isn’t it?

Do you have any trousers or a skirt that would work with the blazer? It’s a lovely color but it looks formal to my eye and I am not sure how it would mix and match with less formal pieces. It’s hard to tell it’s length on a model….do you know where it would hit you at the bottom hem?

Lovely blazer….so a couple of questions.
In the new normal do you have many occasions to wear a blazer? And there other things that you are wearing more now vs the before times, and wish you had more options? You originally thought it was a suit and seemed excited about that, do you really want a suit instead of a blazer?

As to how to wear the blazer, well, i find double breasted generally look best buttoned up. So I’d wear a simple crew neck jersey under it and pair it with white or blue jeans, or other high waisted trousers.

May I suggest passing on the blazer. It looks sooooo good as a suit, and is begging for the matching trousers. It's very "suit-y", IYKWIM. Not as versatile as you think as an item blazer.

Mirjana, great ideas how to use this colour! you just made me realise that it would be a duplicate as I already own a double blazer which I use with the suggested combos.

Lana, that's very kind of you! The idea was to find a flexible piece that would fit both formal and smart casual situations. As for the number of purchases this year, nowadays I am enjoying more the search for the right piece than the shopping itself!

SF, good memory! it's a different jumpsuit than last summer but the colour and fabric are so much better on my skin tone!

Staysfit, I have a pair of jeans that I could see working with the blazer but I am not sure it would look ok as a separate piece. It is starting to sound like this piece could be an orphan in my wardrobe.

KKards, another source of wisdom! I think I could use this a couple of times a year. Full disclosure, the price is GBP £33.
I think a complete suit would give me more flexibility - so that I could use it formally but also as a smart separate.

Angie, I think you summed up beautifully the other comments and vibes and it is indeed best to cancel the order rather than having a lost piece that I would not know how to style it. It is a shame as the colour was fab!

You have carefully thought out your spring purchases. I have been very tempted by a beautiful silk spring jacket but have nothing to wear with it. It is covered with pastel spring flowers but would even look mis-matched with white, just barely ok, so I understand why you are hesitant to get just half of a suit.

Quinta22, thanks! I was stuck with plenty of cream/grey/blues in my wardrobe and have been slowly trying to introduce some pinks. It works well with the current palette and gives some variety as well!

Runcarla, thank you for the kind comment on my finds! there is still a lot of work to be done but I am learning to take better choices in terms of style and colours. One step at the time!

Good and well thought out picks. I have seen that shoe brand around and am curious to see how it wears over time. I do wear blazers all the time in my uber casual lifestyle, but that's me. There is no point buying an occasional piece for a tightly edited closet.

Very well thought-out purchases! Is cream your main neutral? Jumpsuits are great when you don't need to worry about the bathroom (i.e. when WFH)

Agree with the others that, as lovely as the suit sounds, I don't think it would work well as a standalone blazer - unless you have a particularly dressed up occupation... I think a single-breasted blazer jacket in that colour could be more versatile though?

If you're struggling with pre-loved clothing, I'd recommend shopping in-person first to get an idea of your preferred fit & fabrics - I actually have a list of my measurements saved for when I shop vintage online (Etsy)

Zaeobi, I have 2 dark neutrals and a light neutral, it gives me variety and feels less boring. I find jumpsuits easier to wear than dresses.
