I read a post at the end of last year (I can't remember who posted it anymore) about what she had bought over the past year. I looked at that list and thought, "wow, that's a lot of items" and then I thought about how I've never kept a list so I had no idea if that was a lot or a little for an entire year. I decided to keep a list. My shopping year actually starts and ends at Xmas because that always feels like the end of the year to me. I can start focusing on the rest of winter and spring after we pass Xmas.

Here's my list:
4 scarfs
7 dresses
7 shoes/boots
2 jeans
4 pants
5 long-sleeve tops/blouses
10 short sleeve tops
5 sweaters
1 skirt
2 shorts
1 jacket

I didn't include layering camis, workout gear and basics like socks and underwear on this list.

Thoughts:
I have to admit that this list sort of shocked me when I totaled it all up. 7 dresses and 10 short sleeve tops seems like a lot. However, I purged most of the older dresses from my wardrobe and I had several older tanks/tees that finally wore out and were purged this year. I added several graphic tees that I really enjoy wearing.

For the most part, these were all good purchases. Duds include a pair of black sandals (of course, I just can't get these right), a pair of beige slacks which I thought would be a nice neutral but are too boring, a mint tank that I can't seem to style with anything except white, and a basic white tee that just isn't right.

Anyone else keep a list? Does this seem excessive? I feel like I hardly ever shop and then I find out I bought 48 items last year. About half this list was thrifted but the majority of my duds were new items.
