200 pairs of shoes

My brother's wife recently told me that she one had 200 pairs of shoes, but now has about 20.

What is the most number of pairs you have had?

Not sure, but I'm going to say forty. Possibly fifty. I certainly don't have fifty at the moment. Maybe twenty-five. Not that shoes aren't a weakness for me -- it's just that these days I'm more into quality over quantity. But what is not up for debate is the fact that I have more shoes than I really need. Nobody really needs more than ten pairs!

I currently own about 40-50 pairs (combined) of shoes, boots, sneakers, sandals and miscellaneous footwear. This has been a pretty standard number for me over the years. I live in a four season climate, so my footwear needs differ greatly depending on the time of year. I also require both dressy and casual footwear as well as "gear" for the gym and gardening.

I don't think I've ever owned more than 20 pairs. Storage space for shoes remains an issue for me.

40-50, and I think that's pretty reasonable (but I could be crazy!) I think it's hard for women to purge shoes because with us, it's rare that you wear the same one daily and actually wear it out. If you have a good number of shoes, you could go days between shoe repeats...and if you're a shoe buyer, then you are constantly adding to the pool. I think with men (at least my husband), he doesn't have multiple shoe styles for his suits, he has his shoes he wears with brown, his shoes with black and he'll wear them both until they are worn out, then replace 2 pairs of shoes.

I've had a pretty similar number for quite a few years, probably 80-90. That includes shoes, boots, sandals, occasion shoes, everything. Even so, that looks like a pretty ridiculous number, doesn't it?

I've been thinking about this recently and might be ready for a good sized purge soon.

Not even close to that figure I can't even imagine the storage that would take!
Currently I have 13 pairs - including all types, for all seasons:

Boots - 5
Riding boots
Oxblood heeled knee high boots
North Face snow boots (for v bad weather)
Dr Martens bike boots
Oxblood heeled ankle boots

'Closed in foot' shoes - 4
Dr Martens Sara (pony print)
Dr Martens Ofira shoe
Clarks Hamble Oaks x 2 - Wine and Nude

Sneakers - 3
Converse x 2 - Yellow and White
White DC's

Sandals - 1
Leather strappy wedges.

That about does it, I can't imaging needing more until it comes to replacement

I never had many shoes. Still, I fell that living in a place with four
distinct season gives me the excuse to own a fair amount, especially since I
spend some time outdoors commuting to work. A recent doubling of
storage space means that my shoe collection will probably grow ...

My present collection:

More or less dressy shoes:

2 x pumps

2 x ballerinas

3 x fashion sneakers

1 x oxfords

2 x booties/shooties

2 x knee-high boots

All-purpose footwear:

1 x fashion wellies

1 x gigantic winter boots for really cold days.

Outdorsy shoes:

3 x boots and sneakers for hiking

1 x skiing boots

Wow. I've never been that much of a "shoe" person. I usually have had just basic, neutral shoes which I wore with everything until they wore out and were replaced. Now that I'm trying out new styles of clothes, I do find myself wanting to expand my shoe wardrobe, but it's hard to decide what to get!

I currently have six pairs of sandals (both flat and wedge or platform), two pairs of Converse (flat black lowtops and gray wedge hightops), two pairs of Toms (navy multicolor stripes and black/fuchsia plaid), rose print heels, hiking boots, black flat Mary Janes, taupe oxfords, and a pair of very casual black ankle booties. So, fifteen pairs.

I have a number of different styles on my Pinterest wish list, including leopard ankle boots, cognac riding boots, d'Orsay flats, and more! Y'all are a bad influence on me.

So, 11 or 12, depending what happens with the boots. I'll eventually have actual athletic shoes again. To have fewer, they need to be really ideal.

- one pair of excellent low-heeled lace-up black ankle boots, for well-dressed nomadic wear
- decent-looking flip-flop or sandal for showers and with a dress

I have always been an avid shoe collector. I probably have well over 250 pairs. I try to make sure that they all get worn and track my shoe wears using my Stylebook app. I also take daily outfit pics (aka 'Glamour shots'...lol) and note which shoes I wear. So each year I try to wear as many different pairs of shoes as I can. So far I think I am up 100 different pairs of shoes worn (and counting) in 2013.

All the shoes in my collection are in good condition. I am slowly going through them one by one and giving away those that just don't fit my style aesthetic anymore. I've probably given away 30-40 pair in the last couple of years to friends. I don't get too hasty with the purging though. I dress by 'mood' and just because I haven't worn a shoe in a couple of years doesn't mean it won't get worn. It just means that it hasn't caught my fancy in my latest style cycle. On more than one occasion I have shopped my shoe closet and found a forgotten love that really pushed the happiness factor of an outfit into the stratosphere.

I forget exactly but probably closer to 60 pairs. Now I'm at less than 20.

I don't think that I have ever owned more that 100. Which is a lot !! LOL

For the last couple of years, I have never topped 40. Though I have found that my magic number is around 30. That is plenty for me including sport/hiking shoes, boots ( including rain and snow boots ) and everyday shoes.

Hmm. I just counted off my inventory list. Around 40. Not including dance shoes, costume shoes and trainers, which puts me up around 65 or 70, I think.

I'm kind of relieved. I thought I owned more shoes than that... it means I'm getting some of my excesses under control.

I just did an inventory recently as part of a closet cleanup. I'm now about where NicoleD is -- I don't think I've ever topped 100, but I was probably close at one point. I really don't want more than I have now. If something new comes in, something else is going out.
