2 more glasses...don't kill me...

These were the ones I narrowed down to at the expensive place. I brought my mom along for her ophthalmic expertise and when she saw these she loved them so much she offered to split the cost with me, but I didn't want to rush the decision. The first batch is still in the running but these are pretty great.

Bevel specs. They're brown but I loved the shape and the little cutout details:

They come in some other KILLER colors but the place I went to doesn't carry them so I'm not sure. I was avoiding brown but I adore the shape.

They don't let you order online, otherwise that would be a no brainer. I can't find them anywhere online.

These are the Paul Smiths. They are a light tortoise with turquoise inner rims:

My mom was kind enough to strike a deal with me: If I get the frames, she will get the lenses. This place had SO many more options it was insane. The salesperson was wonderful and brought me tons of possibilities. It was such a different experience than the places I have been going.

Do you have a preference Angie?

My vote: both are nice, but I liked the chunky purple frames from your last batch better.

I like the bevel frames, definitely, but I don't prefer the brown. Too bad about the colors.

The tortoise ones are perfectly nice....I guess I still think a funky color is more Maya.

The tortoise ones are a funky color, you just can't see it because it's from the front. They are blue on the inside, which shows from the side. The bevel ones have a funky design which I was hoping would make up for the lack of color. Or perhaps I could ask if they could order them in color, but I wouldn't know which to ask for.

They are available here in the tortoise/blue. I haven't tried them on but they have a very similar coloring to the Paul Smiths.

Hmmm. Your decision is getting more complex.

o Still love the chunky red specs from the first batch.

o Love the idea of the purple Bevels. The shape is KILLER. I think the ones you have on in the shop are too dark.

o The Paul Smiths are also an extremely good shape. I LOVE the idea of the turquoise on the sides and on the inside (which I know we can’t see from the front).

But from being very down about specs last week Maya, you now have three FABULOUS options :0)

I think I will go with the Paul Smiths then. I like them more than the red ones. The purple or tortoise/turquoise Bevels would have been perfection but they do not stock them I guess I could ask if they can be ordered.

One thing about the PS glasses though: the turquoise is on the eyepiece only. The temples are metal.

I could ask the saleswoman to show me more in colors other than black and brown. Most of the specs she showed me were dark but had great shape.

I had her hold these two for me with the intention of picking one tomorrow. Hopefully she won't want to kill me if I ask to see more. I'm normally not a very selective or demanding customer but this is such a big deal I want to get it right.

I think you *should* be a discerning customer. Especially because your mom is an ophthalmologist!

This is probably throwing a spanner into the works, but I think this pair is also too narrow - vertically speaking. There's just something about the balance on your face I am not liking so much - same issue as the cat's eyes from previous thread. I do like the color and, especially, the detailing better. I just wish they were slightly more generously shaped vertically - BUT - that could also simply be the angle of the photo (seems the camera was pointed more up than down???)

I am intrigued by the idea of blue glasses for you.... but I'd have to see them on you.

P.s. You certainly shouldn't take any advice from me since my own glasses aren't all that great!!! I would also love something more artistic/quirky. I am learning from you too.

My favorite so far is the bevels, the shape is to die for on you!! I know this is probably confusing you more but I keep looking for that shape in an olive green or rust red and cannot find which is why I haven't gotten new glasses. I think they are perfect on you, I do not mind the dark color. Sorry if this is throwing a wrench in your process but had to chime in. The other choices that you have narrowed it down to are also great but Bevels are by far my favorite!

I also love the Bevels Jean. They are my favorite shape and I love love love the little notches on the sides. I just can't get past how dark they are. I feel like I want a color that brightens my face more. I'm going back today to pester the woman again. She was terrific so I'm hoping she won't be too annoyed with me. I'll ask her if she can order the Bevels in a different color or show me similar shapes with color.

Shiny, I had blue glasses in high school but they weren't stylish by any standard. They were dark though, so they basically read as black. I think cobalt blue would be great if I could find it in a suitable style.

I think you have several pair that may be equal contenders. You won't go wrong with any of them. I know when I shopped for frames I had 3 contenders that I would have been happy with, but I just had to have the green stripe in the pair I took home. The green stripe is what made me say, "I like this one". If I had not seen that one the other two would have been great. The green strip still makes me smile. It is a color that I have always loved.

OK, I think it's case closed. I went back today and told them about finding the Bevels in tortoise/turquoise and they ordered them for me. The saleswoman showed me what the color looked like on a similar pair and the tortoise is actually darker than the Paul Smiths, but they have so many different tones that catch the light so nicely that I thought it was okay--it's not a flat brown like the pair I tried on in the store, and the inside is still turquoise. From different angles there are golden hues and caramel hues. It's very pretty.

The turquoise comes through in the little cutouts which I LOVE.

If for some reason I don't like them, she says it's fine and I can choose something else, but I'm pretty sure they are winners. I wasn't comfortable ordering the purple ones, even though I liked them as well, but I just didn't know how they would look on my face. They might have been bolder than I'm comfortable with.

San, I know what you mean. I went from having few options to having too many, but in the end I'm glad because I was able to get exactly what I wanted: The shape of the Bevels in the color that I liked.

Those frames are awesome, Maya! I like the Bevels the best on you (love the shape and cutouts), and am so glad you ordered them. I think the tortoiseshell/turquoise combo will work nicely.

Picking new glasses is hard work!! I think it's great you took your time Maya, and shopped around a little.

I love the shape of the Bevels for you and the tortoise with turquoise looks fab (I can see how the light will play with the different tones). Can't wait for you to model them (I still think you would have rocked the purple too;-)

I am thrilled that you found something that works for you after having such a tough time in your search, and that is really kind of your mom to help you out with the cost of lenses.
