I started a post on my pending Anthropologie interview, and then yesterday I got a call for a freelance design job at a marketing company. Anthro's open interviews are Tuesdays and Thursdays, and my other interview is on Tuesday, so I would like to do them both on the same day. For the Anthro interview, I was just going to wear a dark denim skirt, a blouse from Anthropologie, and some heels that have yet to be found. But now that I have the second interview to get through, I feel the denim skirt is too casual. The shirt I plan to wear has a print of little pacmen-like faces munching on vegetables. It sounds odd but it's adorable. However, they are very small so from far away it just looks like polkadots.

My friend who told me about the Anthropologie interviews said it's really laid back and pretty casual. I'm not sure how to make an outfit that works for both interviews. Should I just go to the Anthro one overdressed a bit?

No autumn here until the end of the month, and even the summer sometimes lingers a bit. It's still warm. Definitely no boots or anything like that.

Your grey mary janes look GREAT with a skirt. You wore them when Jean challenged you I think. I love those. Will you really not wear them with a skirt?

I wore them because I had nothing else I'm not crazy about them. The strap is too thick and too high for my liking. Anyway, like I said, they'll be there if I need them but I would still like to find something else at some point so it may as well be now. I'm less concerned with shoes and more concerned about what to wear on my bottom half. I just don't feel comfortable with the MC pants and a patterned top.

I think you should go with your pencil skirt (non-denim). Perhaps you can swap out accessories to make the Anthro outfit more funky, and the other one more formal?

Oh, yay Maya! I'm glad that you have two interviews coming up. That is wonderful, and I am thinking good thoughts for you & wishing you luck already!

I know you aren't crazy about the Mary Janes, but when you posted pictures of the shoes with a skirt last time, I actually really liked the high strap placement because it made the shoe itself look more low-vamp than the typical Mary Jane with a strap in the middle of the foot. I'm not sure if that explanation makes sense & am not trying to convince you to wear something you're uncomfortable with, but just saying that I thought they looked great!

I like Cathy's suggestion of swapping out accessories. If that doesn't work, would it be too weird or cumbersome to swap out skirts mid-day by bringing them along in a bag?

That's a good thought Cathy. I wish I had more accessories from Anthropologie, but I do have a lot from UO that could work.

I know it's just me who has the hangup about those gray shoes. What you say totally makes sense Kari. Oh, I do also have my red 1.5-sizes-too-big pointy toe shoes from this outfit:

They're not heels but they seem dressy enough. I don't know how comfortable they will be. Haven't put them through city walking yet.

Don't have much in the way of sugggestions (other than to say avoid denim for the second interview), but wanted to wish you luck on both interviews!! When it rains it pours eh?

I second no denim for the design job interview.

How about the outfit you wore to the last interview? I think it was your polka dot blouse with the pencil skirt and my yellow bag. You actually have lots of options. It’s a question of trying loads of things on and experimenting. That’s your goal for today! Hope you found shoes at Nordies :0)

Don’t forget the headband – or are you wearing your specs?

Well so much for my plans. My interview got bumped to Friday, which makes this thread irrelevant.

I did not find that outfit especially comfortable in the heat Angie. The lining of the skirt was sticking to me and making my legs all sweaty. I have an unlined skirt I could use, but it has a pretty intense pattern. Since I won't be going to the Anthropologie interview anymore (on the same day at least), I don't have to wear anything from there. If I wear the patterned skirt, I can wear something else on top. I have my white s/s H&M jacket with giant cream flower pin and a colorful cowl neck.

Since I have more time now, I can order shoes online. I am HEAD OVER HEELS for these. No idea how comfy they will be (probably not for 8 hours) but omg they have my name written all over them:

They only have black in my size though. I don't know if I'm quite as drawn to the black as the bone. Sam Edelman in general seems to have a lot of adorable low heel options.

I think this may work to your advantage as your able to fully focus on each interview separately. The shoes you linked to look perfect for a professional office.

Sounds like it will work out for the best, spreading the two interviews out. I like those Sam Edelmans, Maya! Very you and will work well for interviews.

That's good news actually! Now you can really focus on each individual interview outfit. Start a separate thread for each and let’s get you sorted – pumps too.

You could have guessed that I’ve tried on the cream Sam Edelman shoes :0).

They weren’t comfortable enough. I need 4 to 8 hour shoes and that buckle kept on digging into the top of my foot because it falls onto the skin. My Fly London pumps have turned out to be 10 hour shoes. Inge has them too and feels the same way. I highly recommend you search for them.

i can only find the FL pumps in red, black, and mustard. The gray is gone in my size. If they're really that comfy then I guess I could go for one of the other colors. I'm just not sure which. Black is safe (and the white piping makes them a bit nicer than a boring solid black pump), but the red is fun too. Yellow is also nice though. Hmm.
