So impressed that you can alter your own shirt! I'm not crazy about the jacket buttons. I'd try tortoise shell, mother of pearl or black woven leather buttons.

I'm not crazy about the buttons either. I like Carters suggestions. What about some oxidised silver tone ones? Or just self coloured ones?

Agreeing with Diane that oxidized silver (nickel finish) or self-coloured buttons might look nice on that jacket. I am amazed by your talent, Ornella. I would never be able to alter a shirt.

I'm classic and would like black buttons. You often sport black pieces so that would tie into the buttons. I am clueless on sewing so bravo to your skills to alter your own stuff, that's wonderful!

Buttons on red are hard, especially warm reds. I frequently change buttons on items to make them more versatile for my color palette or metal-mixing, or better quality. My first decision is usually, do I want the button to be a star or to be in the background. If you are wearing a lot of black, the right black--fabric or faux leather-- might work, or a metallic that is darker and more subdued than the gold. If you can find the right size, I've had luck with a type of pewter finish, almost black, or maybe a brushed nickel. Buttons are very personal though, and when you take your jacket in to shop for them, it will be lots easier to tell yay/nay when you hold them up to it.

I vote changing the buttons too. Something plainer, more minimalistic.

If you wear gold jewelry then I think the buttons are ok but not fabulous. But if you prefer silver tones I'd definitely change them out.
