I took a little spill on my morning run last week and have been been recovering from some badly injured knees. Nothing broken, thank goodness, but severe bruising and the scrapes began to get infected, despite my best efforts. The past week and a half has been filled with pain, whining, hobbling, a doctor's visit, antibiotics, ice packs, and such a recurring need to rest and recline that you'd think I was a stereotypical Victorian woman being shut up in her room as a treatment for "hysteria." Needless to say, I haven't been looking very fab.
But ironically, I'm finding fab shoes at great prices. After work tonight I walked into Ambiance, one of my favorite SF shops, with a plan to buy some sensible gray pumps I saw in their window last week before my fall. The sensible gray pumps were gone, but they had just moved a lot of merchandise into their sale section in the back. I wound up walking away in my first pair of Chelsea Crews--for $15!

Maybe they're not the most sensible shoes, but the price was reasonable, and I love them dearly. I am beginning to worry that I'm turning into Imelda Marcos though. This find is on top of some $22 tortoiseshell pumps I happened to find at a Macy's sale on my way home from the doctor's last week:

(sorry, not the best photo, I know...)
Seriously, how many pairs of shoes is too many? I couldn't have passed up either of these pairs, especially at these prices, but I have about 25 pairs of shoes now and am running out of room for them in my tiny apartment. Why can't finding tops and pants be this easy?
