14 inch shaft height dressier boot?

Does such a thing exist? 14. 5 might be ideal.

Now that I have spent some money finding out that 15s really don't work. (Hangs head in shame...why couldn't I measure carefully and/ or call the customer service people to determine this information which was not listed in plain view?)

Calf circumference is (I think) medium for my height, though who knows what counts as what?

What type of boot are you looking for, Suz? Heel height? Color?

It's funny, I keep finding 14" shaft heights on otherwise great boots when I really need 15" or higher.

These are the boots I have been eyeing, but I think the 15" circumference might be too wide for me. So I'm trying to restrain myself from the disappointment. I don't think 15" will work for you, but posting just in case.

Suz - try searching 6pm.com -- you can narrow down by shaft height. It might give you an idea of brands and models to try?

Suz, have you considered a stretch boot? I have a pair of tall dressy chocolate brown stretch boots and I love them! It's like wearing a pair of tall comfy socks, plus they hug my narrow calves beautifully.

OOPS! Just re-read your post and realized you are looking for a specific shaft height not circumference. Oh well, maybe a stretch boot is a good thought anyway!

Diana, I'm looking for a tall dressier boot with a heel. Colour...well, let's just say I don't think I can be super fussy on that or rule anything out until I see what is available.

Kristin, 15" would be too wide for me, yes, alas. More like 13" width.

Suz, I've made this mistake too and had to send boots back that were too tall. The narrow width will probably be harder to find than the 14" height.

Oy, I haven't looked for dressier boots in YEARS. Now I am paying for my sins, alas.

IS that a narrow width, Joy? I was always under the impression that my calves were somewhat wide. They may not be, however. It may just be that the widest part is not where boots made for taller people assume it will be.

Nancy, those Munros are 16" tall. Fab for your gorgeous long gams, but too tall for me...

My "dressier"' boot now (very dated, and not that dressy) is in fact a stretch boot. It was too tall to start, but sort of sunk down, so it works okay.

Ooh, thank you, Diana. I had already found the Canadienne ones, but not the Stuart Weitzmans. I am wondering if I can try those on in an actual store in Toronto. They *are* awfully pricey and I would rather know what I was getting into.

Depends a bit on the shoe....somewhere between 6.5 and 7, and I usually wear a 7 in boots.

I like all your choices, except most I see are not really as dressy as I'd been hoping for, which I suspect goes along with this shaft height...it is imagined on taller women wanting a country outing. I love the super-expensive ones with the double zipper detailing, but I am beginning to think that I will continue on with my Canadian practice of wearing non-dressy winter boots and changing into party shoes at my destination. Kinder to my hosts floors, anyway!

But in the long run it WOULD be nice to have a dressy boot that is tall. So I will keep my eyes peeled.

Not even truly petite, but need a petite boot. Feh.

What kind of boot are you looking for?

This weekend I tried on Angie's recommended Donald Pliner boot:

The style didn't exactly work for me. The heel is too dainty. But surprisingly the boot was the perfect height for me. Because they are stretchy and fitted, they do not gap at the top. I usually take boots at the 14-15" height. These are marked as 17" but they still worked because they are fitted.

Just a thought!

OTOH, I think your calves are longer than mine, even though you are shorter. That is where most of my shortness resides, apparently...and is one reason I'm really sensitive to the whole "stubby legs with booties and dresses" issue. It's REAL for me and if figure flattery were my only priority I would probably never wear booties with dresses, period.

(However, keeping my shoes on my feet is another priority, and since low vamp shoes almost never stay on me, that means I will be wearing booties with skirts regardless, whether or not they are flattering. But it would be great to find a tall boot as well!)

La Canadienne Women's Dorina Boot on amazon says it is 15" tall and 14" wide I didn't find that the case with the size 6.5. I have 12.5" circum. on my left leg (13" on right) which is the leg wearing the Dorina and you can see they are shorter that 15" which is closer to what the other boot is (timberland) and tighter fit circumfrance. I liked these boots they are weatherproofed suede and I wanted something a little dressier so I didn't keep them.
I ended up getting Stuart Weitzman "sprinkles" that I LOVE. I think they are dressy even though they are gortex. 3rd pic.

Krish, if the height is short enough for you they will probably work for me. The height is where I think I need no higher than 14.5, not the width. The width, I need narrower. 13 or so. I will look for yours - thank you!
