yeah . . . I seem to have gotten 2 sweaters for Feb. instead of 1 and 2 jeans for March instead of 1. Oh, and a fitted white button down for April instead of the flowy blouse . . . or maybe in addition to, if I'm going to keep with the doubling every month. Yikes. It's funny, though, because my original plan for 2013 had me at 2 items a month and I decided I'd try and really scale back to only 1.
Either way, I'm at a shopping standstill at least until mid April. The good news is I'm still on budget for $1000 for the year. Oh, and that the endless BF jean search is OVER.
Totally happy with my choices no matter the number!!

Well- sticking to budget is more important I.M.O. (And the happiness factor.)
I should be at a shopping standstill 'til May going by budget, but just can't resist buying when I see something great

2 items per month is still pretty sensible. And, as Lyn points out, the most important thing is sticking to your budget.

You are doing just fine, IMHO. The budget is the most important part, and you are making very sensible choices. I realize that I won't be able to stick with my plan either.

Sounds good to me! I would put sticking to you budget as the priority and as you are doing that, I think you are simply proving to be a wise and prudent shopper.

Oh well. You have to get things when you see them. Sometimes you have money and time and nothing presents itself. I've been looking for the specific things on my list, but I can't find what I want. This is a whole new way of shopping for me!

IMO, choosing to stay on budget and buying GREAT (not just good) items is the ultimate goal whether it turns out to be "12 for 12" or "16 for 12" or "24 for 12".

so it sounds like setting a target of 12 and shopping for 24 may have worked instead of setting 24 and getting 48!

I agree with the others - these things are guides not commandments. Being happy & within budget makes everything okay imo.

I think it's fine, especially as you are still in budget. Is there anything in your wardrobe that you can purge to make room for your new items?

As long as you're still in budget, you're doing great. I'm off 12x12 and on SYB because I finally figured out my style and I'm trying to revamp my clothes. I'm also trying to do a "1 in = 1 out," so for every now top that comes in, one old top goes out, etc. It's helping me cut the clutter and get rid of everything that doesn't work in my new wardrobe. Would something like that work for you?

Thanks guys! I am doing fine, if not exactly on plan. I will be stopping until mid April, though to keep on course.
Overall I have less things in my closet. I purged stuff that still lurked in the Tahoe closet every time I went off to FL. I counted 6 or 7 jackets that went out this last 2 months. Only 1 new one came in
I also had purged my blue jeans down to only 4, 2 of which didn't really fit properly. So I now have 4 pair of proper fitting blue jeans. Not excessive by any stretch of the imagination.
Ditto the sweater situation, they were old enough to be dated - short and tight. They needed overhauling. I ditched at least as many as I brought in.
I hope to stay close to my 12 for 12, but if it ends up 24 for 12 as bj1111 said, I am okay with that, too.
