100% cotton jeans and sizing

Any tips for buying 100% cotton jeans? Levi's, to be exact. I'm unsure about sizing, as I know they will stretch out a bit but not sure how much.

At least with Top Shop 100% cotton jeans I have to size up since there's no spandex at all so no give. In the old days when I bought boys' 501s in the 1960s that were not preshrunk, the rule of thumb was to buy .5" to 1" too big in the waist and 2" too long.

Like DonnaF, I often need to go up one size on 100% cotton jeans. I find that they do not stretch or bag out as much over the course of the day as jeans with lycra do. Plan accordingly.

Which model Levis? It really varies a lot. Sometimes it even varies depending on the colorway, I've found. Best if you can try on in person, or order from somewhere with free returns. I've tried a bunch of their newer low-stretch cuts in the past year. The 501c is much lower rise and larger-waisted than the traditional 501 and I had to go down a size, but I wear them more like a skinny girlfriend fit, not the loose fit they show on the models. The 505c and Wedgie fit (terrible name, nice pants) are both true to size, I find.

are you talking about raw jeans or pre washed? generally pre washed will shrink some in lenght, but not in waist...raw is a whole different matter, and its been a long time since i've gone there, sorry
