As a newbie online shopper, I’m still learning the ropes - especially when it comes to sourcing items that meet my standards for ethical. One of those standards is to source items that are made in Canada, but I will settle for North America, or other countries where I can hope that the makers are being paid a living wage.

I liked these https://www.thebay.com/product.....l?site_ref so looked up the company. The ‘Mother’ website didn’t provide much detail, and I couldn’t find a corporate statement, but there was a reference to their product being ‘made right here’ out of Los Angeles? They didn’t pop up on any list of ethical jeans brands that I could source.

I ordered them since I 1. liked the look, 2. liked the colour 3. liked the fabric 4. my size was available 5. the price was fair. They arrived (48 hours (!) later ) and they fit just great - but what does this mean?

‘Assembled in USA by both USA and foreign components’.

If the ‘by’ was ‘from’ or ‘of’ or ‘with’ I would assume the fabric/thread/buttons (it has a button fly) were made abroad, or the elements that make up the fabric were sourced elsewhere. Does the ‘by’ mean something, or is it just awkward wording on the label?

Thanks in advance, for weighing in on this troubling matter!
