A fun top to de-bombshell shorts. Stunning drape and pretty neckline. Wearing it over shorts or clamdiggers is less expected, although pairing it with straight legs or a pencil skirt is a slam-dunk. Add a pair of dressy sandals, flat gladiators, slipper flats or booties and you’re good to go.

I saw this top on the hanger and was not all that impressed. But the fabric is unbelievably soft, so it’s ended up in the fitting with several clients. The top looks so much better on the body. It’s a great alternative to a basic T-shirt, layers well under toppers, and is forgiving on the midsection without being overly voluminous. It’s also available in petite and plus sizing.

Banana Republic is repeating this style this season because it’s a versatile piece for both work and play. It’s a classic semi-structured style shell in a 100% lightweight silk that looks great under a blazer or cardigan for the office. Or wear it more casually with a denim jacket, bomber, moto style or utility jacket and a pair of jeans, shorts or fun skirt. Lovely on its own too, although you might like to add a cami under the lighter colour options. It will only work on a full bust if the armholes allow for enough overage. Also available in orange, green and navy.

Easy to throw on and get on with your day. The stripes have a slightly distressed look and the neckline works well for a smaller and larger bust. The sewn-down tabs on the raglan sleeves and rounded hem are a nice design detail. This tee has a relaxed fit. Nice with a denim pencil skirt, jeans, shorts and clamdiggers. Also available in a blue, green and orange stripe.

This navy cotton shell features a fun graphic pattern reminiscent of the ’60s. It has a tailored fit, hits at the hip, and even with the high neckline also works well on a fuller bust. It looks wonderful on a very hourglassy figure too. The lower back neckline is lovely. Fab on its own or paired with a (moto) jacket, classic blazer or bomber.

It also comes in Grapefruit Yellow, and is available in Tall and Petite too.

A soft three-quarter sleeve top with a flattering draped front. This top looks best when you can fill out the top. Looks great with blazers, jackets and cardis, but works just as nicely on its own, with a camisole. The North Sea blue and Tomato red are both fab. Also available in regular and petite.

This printed mesh knitted top is very comfortable and easy to wear. Great for travelling. The twisted knot detailing defines the waist but does not cling. The sleeveless style is great for layering under a jacket or cardi, or to wear on its own. I love the happy graphic vibe of the honeycomb-green print, but the black and white pencil print is equally stylish.

A stretchy faux wrap top with a modest neckline. You may or may not need a camisole for cleavage coverage. Flattering drape, tailored, and elegant 3/4 sleeves. It’s particularly flattering on a larger bust and curvy torso. Perfect layered under a jacket for the office or with jeans in relaxed settings. This top comes in four fab patterns, the black and white animal print and the colourful geo print get my top vote.

A three-quarter sleeved, feminine tee that is ideal for ladies with shorter necks. It has a silky feel, and the length allows you to scrunch the sides so that it does not cling. This is a super casual layering piece and brilliant pattern mixing tool. The tee is also available in four neutral solids, but the micro stripe has more personality. You might need to size up.

This sleek top with crisscross bands is fitted but doesn’t cling, in fact it hugs the body in all the right ways. The front and back V-necklines give it a subtly alluring air. This is a super layering piece that can be worn both casually and dressy.
Available in black and red. It also comes in a fab striped version.
