Gap Long & Lean Jeans

I used to have a pair of these several years ago but wasn’t very fond of them then. I believe that the fit and quality of the denim has improved though, because now I love them. Soft, roomy on the leg, and not too wide on the hems (but wide enough for a flared leg look). They run true to size, are available in several washes (faded, medium, medium tint, dark, and black) from sizes 00 to 20 in petite, regular and tall.

I love these jeans! I have them in several washes and both regular and long lengths. They really do make you look long and lean, even if you have a bit of a tummy, especially when worn with heels. Quibbles: I wish the leg were a little narrower and that they kept their shape a little better upon long wearing. Gap puts them on sale all the time.

I really like these jeans, in 2008 I had a pair of Gap curvy flare jeans which read more like a trouser cut but I really loved them but they are discontinued and I’ve been looking for a replacement ever since. I tried the Long & Lean after some pushing by the SA who explained that these are not meant for those who are already long & lean, but instead they make people like me look long & lean. And they do, they make my legs look long,even more so in heels, the dark colour is slimming and I love the cut for my big thighs. The only issue I have is that they stretch a bit so instead of the 14 which was too big I got the 12 and even though they were a bit tight, they stretched after that and now I have to wear a belt. I even bought another pair when they were on sale so I could hem them to wear with flats or very low heels. Will continue to buy replacements as long as they make them

I love these jeans – I’m only 5’2″, and they are true their name. I have a couple of pairs: the shorter length to wear with converse and the regular length to wear with heels. The rise is perfect to hold in the tummy, too. My only complaint is that they do stretch out a bit with wear.

I went to the Gap yesterday to try this cut (after having previously bought the Perfect Boot, which I’ve been very happy with.) LOVE the long and lean! They fit super well – had to size down one size, though, just like with the perfect boot. Very flattering. And since I plan to wear them with low heels (1.5-2 inches), I won’t even have to get them shortened.
I ended up buying them in a dark and a lighter wash. I feel “all set” with regards to jeans for a while…

So, I really liked your story about these and thought, what the heck, and ordered a pair online. I know, I know, who buys jeans online, right? Normally, I go through 30 pairs in the dressing room and come out empty handed. But guess what? They are amazing! My fashion-savvy daughter said, “Wow, Mom, those look like they were made for you! Your butt is amazing!” (Rarely is she this complementary, mind you.) I washed them right away per instructions and they didn’t shrink. I ordered a size 8 regular. I am 5’8″ about 143 pounds with a bit of a belly pooch, but they hit right in the middle and slim things right up. Great suggestion!

I bought these a couple of weeks ago, and wore them for the first time yesterday – wow, was I pleased! They were so soft and comfy, the rise was perfect, and they didn’t bag out. I’m 5’1″ and bought the regular in ‘ankle’, and am really happy with the length. Love ’em!

I work at the Gap and these are a nice jean. One great thing to remember if you do order on line and they don’t fit you can return them to the store.

These are some of my favorite jeans. They are great for the price and do not bag or stretch out too much after wearing. I did size down and they fit very well. I love that I can by long lengths at the gap as I have a 34″ inseam and end up having to special order from other companies or buy premium denim. Of course, if I did wear heals much, I’d have to buy the tall but now that they have free shipping over $50, it’s not so bad. Thanks for the recommendation, Angie!

I’ve worn my pair so much I’m down to pennies/day on them. I did have to size down and they come out tighter after a wash.

I ove these jeans. I feel like the drape of the Long & Leans – a little roomy, but not baggy; bootcut, but not dramatically/ridiculously flared; make me relish my curves and make me feel like my legs are a mile long! They bag out a *little* after the first wear, so I’d recommend sizing down if you’re in between sizes, but from my experience (machine-laundering in cool water & hanging them to dry) they don’t bag out badly after subsequent washes unless I’m wearing them a LOT between laundry days. The denim is soft and lightweight, which I like as I don’t find stiff, thick denim very comfortable. I also appreciate the higher-than-usual rise, as I am VERY long in that area.
I’m 5’5″ with average-length legs, and planned to wear these jeans with heels. For heels under 3″ I need a pair that is slightly hemmed to avoid dragging on the ground.

I really like these jeans. I am 5’4″ with slightly short legs and a long rise; many jeans that are supposed to be medium rise are actually a low rise on me. But these are very accommodating in that all-important area, making them an instant favourite.

I wear my Long and Leans with heels but I still needed to get the regular length hemmed; it was quite long. Hemming did not spoil the proportions on me; there is still a considerable flare, consistent with my own height and build.

I did size WAY down on these. My hips are 33.5 inches. In my other Gap jeans I need a 2 (possibly because of the rise rather than the hip measurement; I’m not sure.) In these, I took a 00 and it is still comfortably loose rather than super tight. It stretches out a bit during the day, but so far not in an unflattering or uncomfortable way.

If you are looking for a great flared jean and you are an average to larger than average woman, look no further! But if you are very petite, you will need to try the petite version, for sure.

I hadn’t had a pair of Long and Leans in years, but I recently tried them in white and fell in love. I will have to revisit the other color options, because I love this shape and the way the rise is not too low.
