Alecia I'm with you that tucking in these boots doesn't work as well as longer boots. I wore it with the slouchy brown boots I bought in SF last week and liked the look of that better. Still I love these red boots like nothing else, and this looks works ok for me too I think. I actually quite like this length boot for some reason; feels more casual than a longer style boot does even if the heel is similar.
Patience I finished med school at the end of last year and am now a 1st year intern although at the uni I went to we didn't have the graduation ceremony until a month ago. Obligatory cheesy pictures here if you are interested! Here the system is a bit different and you don't become medical or surgical straight away but spend 1-2 years rotating through different areas of the hospital. How far along is your sister and what does she want to do??
