Work bag - how flexible is this?

I need a bag to carry papers/books to work.

I have a very dull black canvas one that I want to replace with something more stylish. My normal plan would be to buy in black, tan or navy blue because they are neutral, but I'm finding myself playing with the idea of something a little more fun...

I can't find Angie's post on work bags, (probably will once I've posted this) but does anyone have any comments on this - it's the green croc leather laptop bag on the second row:

I only have two handbags (!) - camel and bright pink, with the camel being the every day one at the moment. I want to buy a navy blue one as well. Am I crazy to look at this? I don't like the black version of the one I've linking to, but it's not an urgent purchase - I can wait!

I love it! I find green adds a great pop to just about any outfit.

I love it too. I think that green can work almost like a neutral, so it would be very versatile.

That's a very stylish bag indeed, Polly, and I love the colour. Since finding YLF, I've discovered that a fun coloured bag is actually a lot more versatile than I could ever have imagined. Go for it!

Glad you are going for it! I know some women need to look super-mega-serious when it comes to the colors of their work bags and coats, but I think most have more leeway.

If it helps reassure you any, I haven't gotten sick of my deep aqua leather tote yet and it's been several years. [It gets lots of compliments, too...often from people with brown or black bags!]

Now I'm feeling really guilty as I went with a navy version! It wasn't available when I first posted this, but came on line a few weeks later when I was still dithering...

taylor - it was actually your post that did it - I realised that if my go-to dark neutral was black (as I think yours is) I could do it, but since mine is navy, there would already be two colours working together that would make it harder to add another colour (for a handbag for example) to the mix. I suddenly realised that I could have a problem with it quite often.

This thread made me work out why I was dithering, and what I was uncertain about so thank you all for helping me and just sorry I couldn't go with the fun colour. It means I'll just have to make up for it with some more interesting coloured handbags...
