Now that it's finally winter, it's time to break out the serious winter layering.

1: Wearing this today for work and a fancy dinner afterwards. This outfit has a bunch of concessions to the super cold weather today. I am generally not a fan at all of layering shorter sleeves over longer ones, but I caved and did it today because I really wanted to wear this jacket, which has 3/4 sleeves, but it was too cold for exposed forearms. I'm hoping the narrow sleeves of the sweater keep the look somewhat sleek. What do you think? It's still not my favorite but I'm hoping it looks interesting/quirky and not just odd. I'm also wearing my riding boots because they are warmer and have better traction than my OTK boots, and heattech leggings to keep my knees warm. The sweater skirt is super warm - it's like the winter version of the VC tube skirt!

2: Super casual and cozy outfit with a hoodie layered under a knit blazer. The boots are my new shearling-lined Bean boots, which I was lucky enough to snag earlier in the fall when they were available for a hot second. They look a bit too puffy here because the shearling hasn't matted down at all yet with wear. They are really warm and comfortable, and seem to have good traction on icy sidewalks.

3: This is from last Friday, and is a casual(ish) version of the Friday ensemble. The skirt is not actually so statementy (for me at least) but it turns out that almost all of my really outrageous statement skirts are either too summery or too fancy for the more casual look I had in mind with moto boots and leggings. This particular skirt is a teal and navy houndstooth wool wrap, and was made by my mom. It's quite warm, as it is wool and also lined in flannel (plaid of course). The sweater is the same one as in the first outfit - a super versatile essential! I forgot to put it on my essentials list this morning but i think it deserves a place there. I've owned some version of this sweater for as long as I can remember - this particular one is from Uniqlo this season and is working out very nicely. I'm considering getting a couple more in different colors.
