Here are my WIW from today and from BIL's wedding banquet on Saturday evening.
Today I'm wearing the grey ruffled top I asked about here. Most people said they thought it wasn't dated but wanted to see it on me so I went ahead and styled it in an outfit, based on bj1111's suggestion of slouchy pants and birks. It's very hot today, so I chose my slouchy crops and paired them with my red Naots. The pink jacket is for chilly AC indoors. What do you think of the top here on me? Do you prefer it with or without a topper? I will say right off the bat that I do not really like this top tucked because I think it makes the ruffle look too big on my short torso (although a low semi-tuck into low-rise pants is OK. These particular pants are too high-rise).
The second outfit was worn to BIL's wedding banquet. This is the Chinese banquet for all of my in-laws' local friends who did not come to actual wedding in June. (You might remember I had one too when I got married). There were more guests at this thing than at the wedding itself! Anyway, I had mentioned that I was thinking about wearing a LBD, and MIL was very adamant that I not wear all black, and that if possible I should have something red (which is auspicious in Chinese culture, particularly for weddings.) I don't have a red dress but I chose this floral dress instead (which you've seen before) and carried my red clutch for the requisite red. It's a good illustration of today's blog post!
outfit details:
1-4: BR top, French Connection pants, Naot sandals, Stoosh moto (via Nordstrom).
5-6: WHBM dress, Nanette Lepore jacket, My Choice clutch (via Yoox), Naturalizer shoes.
