What I Will Wear and What I Did Wear. I love this new sweater, but I was stumped about what to wear with it. Angie suggested my white jeans and taupe booties plus my leather jacket. I'm also carrying the metallic purse that Angie recommended, which Ariadne is also considering (that's another post) and wearing a super shiny metallic belt. Who knew metallics were going to be so much fun?!?

I've given this look a secret nickname, which I'll share later (so as not to unduly influence your thoughts on it).

Outfit 1 is per Angie's recommendation. I think it is my favorite.

Outfit 2 is my attempt to ease folks at work into this look a little easy. Nonetheless, first comment off the bat was that I look very patriotic. Big sigh.

What a cool sweater. I love it with the white jeans but all of these variations look great to me. The faux/semi tuck and the clutch are great touches! You are so cute!

Love it with the white jeans! So modern, and the bag, jacket and booties stand out better against the white -- you see how they are not matchy yet coordinated.

Suz, the dark jeans are J Crew matchsticks.

The white jeans aren't showing to their best advantage because they are fresh out of the dryer (I was running short on time). They are the AG's that Angie also owns: Stilt Cigarette in white.

Oh, those babies. Yup - they are amazing jeans. And they look great on you.

So do the matchsticks. Why do the matchsticks look so crummy on me, I wonder. The toothpicks look better.

And toothpicks looked lousy on me, other than the mid-rise toothpicks. Different body shapes. I am straight as a stick.

The pattern and color mix on the sweater reminds me of Marni, but not the cut because Marni is quite boxy.

Stunning. Is the top in 1 and 2 the same? Oh yes I can see it is. I can look at it and see the large red polka dots and I can look and see the white shape. It's really interesting g how the eye focuses on one or the other. Where is is from K it's just gorgeous.

Yay! I was feeling a little like maybe I was the only one who loved the fun pop-art style of the sweater, so it is nice to know that it resonates with others too!

Anna, the fit is fairly boxy, but even more so in a larger size. I love that you think it looks like a Marni piece, because that really appeals to me.

Deborah, it is from JCrew. The merino is incredibly soft. It is $79.99 less 30% at the website, but 59.99 less 30% (so $42!) in store. I just tore the tags off today and then was wearing it when I went into the store. And there it was on markdown. Boo. But I discovered it as I was chatting with my favorite JCrew stylist and she adjusted the price for me! YAY! Awesome customer service!

YAy love the sweater did not get the strs & stripes vibe - I like it with both colour jeans but 1 is my fav.

So, I promised I would share my nickname for this later. Later is now. I call #1 my "Mod Jockey from Outer Space" outfit. Jockey silks have similar prints and I strongly associate them with the Mods. The shiny belt and clutch are outer spacey to me. Have a lovely evening ladies!

(White Jeans make everything look better!!!). But both renditions are KILLER stunning. Loving that leather jacket!

I wore my AG white stilts yesterday too - and white from head to toe in the absolute pouring rain.

Thanks everyone! I think this is a super fun sweater and was so happy to have a recommendation on how to wear it. I'm glad that the forum agrees! I'm especially appreciate of the support on co-worker remarks. Sometimes, when you get enough comments (and not compliments) it ruins the joy. This sweater is obviously not to everyone's taste, but definitely to mine!

Nicole, I know what you mean. Luckily, the jacket was only necessary for outside wear, so the full glory of the sweater was revealed throughout the day. Yay!

k., your posting was really inspirational for me! I was getting ready to head to Toronto with dh to see dd, when I quickly checked ylf. Your outfit looked so amazing, that I decided to do my own rendition. Brown booties, white skinnies, check and check...no amazing sweater or leather jacket so it was a pale imitation...but...imagine my suprise when I checked out J. Crew this afternoon (you hadn't revealed where your sweater was from when I had read the original post) And found the amazing sweater and as you later posted, it was deeply discounted (almost free, as I like to say! ) The only unhappy people were dd and dh cooling their heels while I was having a workout in the changeroom. So you have a sweater twin, who is also happy to see your styling suggestions. As a Canadian, I don't feel any flag connections....plus tomorrow I'm going for a long run...not just your outfit inspired me! Thanks, k.!
