I have come to the conclusion that I am much happier in an ALGO (a lot going on) look. The more pieces and patterns I have on, the bigger my smile and the springier my step. In addition, instead of complaining about the super cold A/C everywhere all summer, I'm going to wear more clothes/collect more fun toppers so I'm not wearing the same boring jean jacket with every outfit! Why didn't I think of that sooner?!!
1/2 is an outfit I wore to drive DH to the airport and then run errands. It's nice to get out and "see and be seen". I stopped at Cosco and the card check lady told me how much she loved my outfit and all the colors/patterns going on. When I was leaving the store, the receipt check lady said, "I hope you don't think I'm weird, but I saw you in the store, and I think you're just striking." Weird? I almost kissed her on the lips! Wow, they really made my day. I had on :
Old Navy white denim skirt (via Savers)
Dana Buchman metallic sandals (Kohl's clearance)
NY&Co. pink button front shirt (Goodwill)
zebra belt (Bealls Outlet)
George pink floral cardi tied around shoulders (Walmart)
Monty
#3 is an outfit I wore to home church recently. I remember being quite comfortable with the A/C because I had closed shoes and a scarf. I wore:
white Levi's skinny jeans (via TJMaxx)
gold Sperry Topsiders (via Last Chance)
navy and white striped T (Target)
blue and white paisley scarf (Target)
Old Navy Chanel-style denim jacket *waving to my jacket quads or quints*
Big Blue
Both of these outfits rate a Happiness Score of 10, and my rubric has been honored. The tucked-in pink button front shirt presented a slight Fuss Factor, but I think I'm just getting used to wearing them again. It was worth it.
#4 is my haul from four (!) different Goodwill stores yesterday. DD needed to get some hours in behind the wheel (to qualify for her driver's license in August) so we combined two objectives. This pile cost me a grand total of $18.49. We had such a blast! I'll try to add a picture or her pile later. She is moving slowwwwly this morning!
What do you think of my outfits? Are they working for me? Anything I should consider changing?
ETA: pic 5 is my 15-yr-old daughter's haul. If I may be a brand snob, the polo is Ralph Lauren, the dress is the Limited, the navy button-down is J. Crew and the black and white oxfords are Ann Taylor! She spent around $18 too.
ETA#2 I was messing around with styling the white shorts (which might need to be tapered so I rolled them to reign in some of the fullness) and the striped shirt (which needs a button and button hole added for my happiness) when DD reminded me it was time to go to youth group. I threw on my tribal bangle (H&M), tucked in my tags and went like this 7/8. DD had already washed her items and cleaned up the shoes, so I took a picture of her outfit for you #6. She is turning out to be a great little shopping buddy! She is finally seeing the value of thrifting. Since I made her spend her own pet-sitting money, she appreciates how much farther it will go.
