This dress is what I have been referring to as my "travel" dress: it's a simple black knit that's comfortable to wear for plane trips, and it packs well, etc. Wore it today because it is barely cracking 70 degrees. Temperature wise, this was perfect. But wow, with the photos, I fear this dress shows off my IT shape too much? With jacket it's okay, without... do I look like a line backer with no hips?

I was attempting to do the hip-slung belt idea here. This is a belt my daughter left behind when she went to college. I tried it higher, but it wasn't comfortable (especially sitting), so I loosened it up. Any lower and proportionately it looked wrong to me. I don't normally wear a belt with this dress; this was an experiment.

ETA: this dress has ruching down one side, the right side in the photos. I know it's hard to see detailing with black outfits. Just want to point that out so you don't think it's oddly bunching or anything. That is deliberate design. It's this dress, but in black:
