WIW: wildcard goes to work

With your help in styling this wildcard dress, I am off to work in it today!

I was a little doubtful whether I'd get to wear the dress this season, because we don't often get enough warm days for something light and breezy. But lo and behold, the weather promises us an 80 degree day today.

The outfit:
Floral print linen dress (made by me); white cardigan (Nic & Zoe); metallic cut-out peep-toe booties (Paul Green, Tacey).

I wore the collar this way, after your guidance on my other post, and I'm liking it. If I make this dress again, I'd like to try putting wire in the collar. I have a dress with that detail and I really like it. Rachylou, you are a hoot, as always, with your insights: space-age and Renaissance! Fieldmouse, I wouldn't have thought of regal, either, but I kind of see it--probably in the collar, but maybe also in the shape of the dress.

So very pretty. And my eye was drawn up right away to that face framing ruffle around the collar. That works so beautifully with your hair. I am in awe , again, still, of your dressmaking skills. If you lived closer, you'd have a client. The peep toe boots are great with it too...

Wow that is such a gorgeous outfit on you! I love the romantic vibe of the florals yet somehow, there's a bit of an avant-garde element to it (maybe avant-garde isn't the right word?). Regardless, the outfit is so unique and despite it being a wildcard, it's still very you!

I love it. You do suit the colours too although I think I mostly see you in darker more muted tones.

Kiwigal, yes, I usually wear more muted colors or lower contrast print. It's the white background that I think gives this dress the brightness that is so different for me. Someone suggested trying to overdye it if I tire of the whiteness. An intriguing idea!
MsKatieKat, I do think the shape is avant-garde or arty. That's a lot of what drew me to the design.
