WIW: Wide legged linen plus bonus roses

Last week it finally got warm enough to bring out the linen slacks I bought last summer. Due to some strange laws of body physics I had to have them hemmed as they were now too long due even with my highest shoes. All I can figure is a very small amount of clean living had resulted in in my rear getting smaller and so the pants getting longer! (Either that pants stored flat in a box for 9 months somehow got longer.)

Shown with and without cardigan - I wasn't sure if the cardigan would make it all day or just be for the morning commute, but so far it's been just fine for the office. Bonus shot of the Fourth of July roses in my yard, just because they were looking so pretty this morning.

Last week I wore these with an embellished black tee and short sleeved denim jacket. Suggestions for styling the slacks or improving the outfit welcome. Is this too waist surrendering with the wide trousers?

I love the print mixing and tone on tone of the blouse and the slacks. Very lovely and restful! The sweater and purse are nice fresh accents with it!

I think this outfit is perfect as is, Nadya. The soft greys with the turquoise are gorgeous, the silhouette is very flattering, and I love the print on your blouse.

I also really like the sound of last week's version with the short-sleeved denim jacket. I think these trousers would also be fun with a white denim jacket, a long-sleeved shirt and a waistcoat etc.

I love your outfit Nadya! The trousers are gorgeous and drapey, and I don't think the top is too voluminous at all. The turquoise cardi and black and white bag add so much to the outfit, very sharp! You look fab!

Your roses are spectacular, BTW. I have never heard of that variety. Thanks for sharing a bit of your happy garden with us.

Here's the thing, Alicat - I don't think I've lost weight. I think it's just rearranged due to bumping up my exercise a bit and being middle-aged! And chocolate is something that is part of my daily life :-).

Inge - thanks for your suggestions. I think I'll try this with my short white jacket next!

I think that you have done a lovely job styling these trousers. You look fresh and polished. Love the addition of the cardie for a pop of colour. Have you tried other brights with these?

I have recently bumped up my exercising as well so that I can indulge in chocolate and ice cream and still fit into my clothes.

That outfit is definitely a winner. You could sort of reverse it by wearing a bright print and a grey or black cardigan. I love the textured look of the pants.

All my cardigans grew longer sleeves as I lost weight. ;o)

Such lovely flow in this outfit. You look stylish, but relaxed and at ease. I love it with the turquoise sweater, since I can't resist a pop of color! I like the idea of a denim topper and Inge's idea of a vest, too.

I love this silhouette and the soft pattern which makes this almost a case of column dressing --- so you get the floaty effect of an untucked soft blouse and drapey pants as well as the strong vertical line that is so flattering. And the pop of turquoise on top is sheer perfection --- nothing more needed. Just. right!

And what gorgeous roses too! I've never seen this variety. Do they usually grow in such a big cluster, like a ready-made bouquet?

Manidipa: The roses are climbing roses, and they get clusters of different sizes: from one or two blossoms to a giant bouquet. I don't have much of a green thumb but I love roses and manage to have some and keep them alive wherever we live.

Nadya, I think this outfit is beautiful. I especially like it with the cardigan because of the soft color that the sky blue adds to the outfit. Great pattern mixing between the trousers and top - it's very subtle, not jarring.

I love it. The slacks and the top have a subtle pattern mixing action and therefore the perfect background for solid pops of color like your cardigan. I also love the handbag choice. Way to go!
