WIW: warning, not for faint of heart

I have been wanting to try cropped jeans that are neither tapered NOR rolled since seeing some pics from fashion week. Here is pair number 1. I like them and they are super comfy. Perhaps not something I will wear for a long time but I really like the different look. (I have a pair on order from JCrew that are slimmer and probably have more longevity.) these are JFE or maybe not even that - leg-shortening for sure, but I'm okay with that if I can look just a wee bit different.
I'm expecting a lot of dislike because they are not as trendy and not flattering and that's okay. I'd like your honest opinions.

I've always been in the minority on YLF about pants length, and love this length. I think it is probably the way my leg is shaped, but I've always preferred and found more flattering (on ME) a longer crop, ankle grazing, not shorter. and I absolutely do not like pants/shorts just above or below the knee. I have pretty athletic calves I think is the problem with that cut for me. but I love these on you, for all the reasons YOU cite! Yay you (and me!) for being fashion rebels!

Actually these jeans are VERY fashion forward - and trending big time on the runways. My FW for Fall 2014 pinboard is full of this silhouette.

I can't look at those pants as objectively as I would like because it's my poison eye (one of three only) - but I LOVE the shoes, and the rest of the outfit. And you lengthened the leg line by tucking the top and adding heels. Well done. If the jeans were three inches shorter - I would be stealing them.

I think you pull these off as well as anyone can! With your short hair and slim build, it looks sort of gamine-ish. And I love the shoes.

AndiB, FWIW, it's not just about the length, but also about the width of the hems, as well as the styling of cropped and ankle pants. Shoes are especially important. Covering larger calves when wearing cropped pants makes complete sense to me - and a strategy I am happy to embrace when shopping with clients who feel the same way as you do. But I do believe that ankle lengths are very tricky to get right (even for JFE) - and that's more my point.

Attitude is everything and you clearly have enough poise to wear whatever you think is cute. I'm completely neutral about this pants silhouette but you make
them cute!

Honestly, I have to say I like the length and personally, I don't care for the look of a shorter cropped pant. I think you look lovely, and the shoes are wow, and most of all you look happy. Not everything in life and in style is about lengthening your legs. This length is my preferred one, too, and I wear crops all spring with a moderate heel I can bound up stairs in!

I am one who doesn't care for the cropped-plus-wide-hems look, but I am not one who listens to the fashion police either, in various areas of my style. I think what is key here is that the rest of the outfit is very sharp and polished, and you have the confidence to pull it off. So...making the cropped pants look intentional (as you have done) is paramount. Great job, Viva! And kudos to you for following your own sense of fashion even when it means you are following the beat of a different drummer.
