WIW: Volume and a spot of waist surrender

I though I'd try a different silhouette for me today whilst sporting my new roomy Aran-style sweater. I love the fact that my sweater has side zips and I liked the effect of leaving them open to let the A-line skirt hang freely. I know an easier option would be to wear one of my pencil skirts but I felt that the shortness of the skirt and the ankle boots added enough structure for me to feel pretty comfy in this outfit. Do you feel that the silhouette works? Oh, and I also decided to add a scarf to echo the darkness of the boot colour, whilst picking out the cream of the sweater at the same time. Do you prefer with scarf or without?

I would have liked the sweater to be a tad shorter. But I think that's just me. You rock this look. And Bilbo is super cute(Hi Bilbo)

Diane - I love that sweater with the zips!! I've been looking for a great aran sweater (only it must be black) and that is totally swoon worthy!! Great score and so flattering. Wow, great skirt so impressed you made it. Looks great with the sweater and I love how you kept thesides unzipped. I like the outfit with and without the scarf. The sweater's pattern is so pretty I like to view it undisturbed but the scarf brings it all together. Can't decide!! Looks great both ways!! I really like the outfit, too. I think the waist surrender looks perfect on you. I have a slight preference for the no scarf version, simply due to my minimalist leanings, I suspect -- but also, I think your hair bookends the booties very well in itself. I might like the scarf version better if the scarf were tied a different way -- not sure about that. For some reason I want the zippers on the sweater to be the stars of the vertical show, if that makes any sense. Again - it's all personal preference and you look great either way!

Great sweater! I love this look on you. I prefer it with the kitty rather than the scarf. I bet the sweater would also be great with a pair of slim pants. You can adjust the zippers for the perfect amount of volume/swing on top.

Oh what a fun look! I need to semi-waist surrender more over my skirts more often. You did it fabulously. I prefer it without the scarf: the sweater is so thick and cosy looking, it makes the scarf (tied like this) look a bit anemic by comparison.
