Meredith asked for a WIW of me in my furs. So...here is one of my vintage fur coats.

I snapped these a while ago. Had to use windows for a mirror. Hopefully its clear enough!

The coat is heavy! Heavyweight vermillion orange wool, with a matching heavyweight satin lining. It's double breasted, with a great buttoned belt in the back, and buttoned straps around the cuffs. The ruff is real fur -- fox I'm guessing. I often pop the collar up and wrap it around my neck (photo 2). While the wool isn't the warmest, the fur collar is! I think if it had a light thinsulate lining it would be warmer. (I get very cold sometimes in the winter, and think I probably need to invest in a down coat.)

The coat was probably one of my $6 Goodwill finds. No kidding. I had the best luck at Goodwill when I was a teenager. No one wanted to keep Grandma's mink coats.

I would never choose a double-breast style for myself. Still, I get a lot of compliments when I wear this coat. So...I go with it.

Anyone else wear vintage furs? I really love my pets, and these coats have become like family to me. They died long ago and it seems a shame to just throw them away or deface them. So I wear them. I even named my silver fox/martin stole "Todd." My bf thinks it's creepy I wear an animal around my neck. But he's gorgeous, warm, and I feel bad he met with sad ends.
