WIW: two copycats - YouLookFab Forum

I loved Angie's outfit today, so I picked up my closest pieces to copycat it. It doesn't work nearly as well as hers, but I liked it anyway. (#1). I tried it with lighter oxfords, (#6), but thought these espadrilles worked better.

Later in the day, it was hot, so I changed into a cooler top (#2)

Yesterday I copycatted a pin that I can't re-find. The pin was military-inspired green clamdiggers, with a black tank top, a studded belt and neutral shoes. I tried two versions (#3 and #4), but wore #4 out because it was warm outside and that top didn't require an undershirt (There's a black and silver belt under there, really). But I like the looks of #3 better.

Bonus pic of my first attempt at making mozzarella cheese. It worked!

I really like 3 on you!

I like your version of Angie's outfit! I think your shorts should be cuffed slightly lower to match hers. A white or black tank to match the sweater would be fun too.

I always wanted to try making mozzarella! I have done paneer but not mozzarella.

You did a great job copying Angie. Did you have to cut anything off or were these capris? I think the emerald green top makes this outfit yours. The striped sweater is fun (too bad it got hot and you had to take it off). The oxfords are a good low contrast choice. I love the flowy black top in #3, too. It will cool down eventually!

Very nice! I recognize those black Danskos....I wear them everywhere. I will have to get some military clamdiggers as I really like your look in #3. I think Ceit had some good ideas.

Cheese looks yummy! I've never made mozzarella. Only paneer. But we did make tiramisu today. With store bought marscapone.

Ceit - thanks for the suggestion on rolling them - I didn't look closely at the length of Angies - just rolled these until they looked right to me. I'll try it with a black or white tank next time - this time I really wanted the punch of color in there somewhere - even though it made it less of a copycat I've never tried paneer - but have done most other "fresh" cheeses. Now I want to try it. Isn't it fun?! (Does paneer have a specific culture that you use? I seem to remember something about it using buttermilk.)

Claire - I did add the green top in my Angie Formula outfit just to make it mine - I like my bright colors And I cut off the shorts - they're about capri length now, so that I can roll them to various lengths of long shorts. They were petit boot-cuts before I cut them.

Karie - the cheese tastes wonderful - a lot like store-bought string cheese, only fresher tasting. It even got firm enough to grate onto lasagna!

And yes, Jeanie - these are the most comfy sandals ever. I will mourn their loss when they finally fall apart.

I just love the high contrast cardi with the juicy green! YAY. The white belt adds so much pop -- love the outfit.

I like both outfits a lot! Very cool, stylish casual looks. You look fab in these long shorts and short capris. I kind of like the oxfords better with the first outfit, but the espadrilles are cute, too--both good options. The outfit looks great with and without the cardi. Don't see anything I'd change--nicely done!

P.S. I have a pair of Dansko sandals kind of like that (same last or sole style, I think, anyway) and don't wear them anymore. If you're interested in looking at them (as a possible backup to yours!), PM me.

Great summer looks, Ami. I agree with Ceit that you could play with the roll of the pants, but I like the bright color. #3 is terrific. Your long limbs make this kind of look really work.
