Have I mentioned it's CRAZY cold here? With the windchill, our temperature is -38C this morning!

Today's outfit started with my espresso brown trousers, to which I added my brown/grey/cream animal print tee. Over top of that is my cognac faux leather jacket. I wear this jacket (and it's sister dark blue one) as blazers in my office all day and like the less structured look they bring to an outfit as opposed to a crisp blazer.

A simple brown leather belt and brown leather booties complete the outfit. The Fossil handbag finishes off my cognac-brown tonal outfit.

What do you think? Too much of the same colour throughout? Proportions work ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Wow these Autumnal shades really speak to me. You look great as usual.. I'm assuming that in temps that cold that you have a very cosy topper for when you're outside?

Well that open neck is making me fill chilly in the -38 degree weather, but otherwise you look fantastic and I really like how the belt pulls it all together.

Shannon, you look great of course. Do you ever layer under trousers? I wear my fleece line tights or sometimes my ski tights for warmth. I can't believe the down skirts are not huge there! Maybe I should send you one.

I love this, absolutely. It has rustic polish the cognac with the gray cheetah print is genius and the black pants anchor it all. NICE. The shoes are cute who makes them?

Holy moly. That is COLD!!! Shannon, you look great, but I keep thinking - she needs a muffler, she needs a muffler!! I couldn't bear to walk around with a bare neck in weather like that. Even inside with central heating!!

Wow, Shannon, those temps are absolutely frigid and a stark contrast to the 80F that I'm experincing right now. I think this is a terrific look. I love how you've used the same color but in varying tones throughout the look. The use of the leather jacket as a blazer is a fun twist on things.

Nevermind... I love the colours --- at least that caramel jacket warms up the cooler snow-leopard greys of the top Is it possible to coax the lapel on your right back to lie flat? I feel like it's fighting the top's neckline just slightly on that side...

You are all so sweet worrying about me in the cold! On top of the actual outfit when I headed out the door, I had on a scarf, red full length puffer coat, Sorel boots and down gloves and was completely toasty.

Manidipa - I hear you about the lapel on the jacket. It's because it's an asymmetrical zipper and it's just the way the jacket is made.

Well....it's only about - 8 here in Kingston and I have to tell you that in my down coat and three layers underneath I would not have called myself "toasty" on the way to the gym this morning. Mind you I was walking. Here, what gets you is the damp wind off the lake -- makes everything feel MUCH colder and more bitter.

I came home, had a shower, and put on my thermal underwear as my work-at-home garb. Now that's high fashion. Angie, look away!!

When I get home from work today, I'll be popping on my AE sweat pants (thanks for that recommendation earlier in the winter Angie!), tee, zip up hoodie and slippers. When it's this cold, it's even hard for the furnace to keep up!

Eek - that's COLD!! I like the warm brown tones in your outfit and the leather jacket looks like it will keep you toasty in the office.

Speaking of the furnace, ours is broken!! No wonder I am chilly....

Suz, I wear thermals daily when temperatures dip below zero. We had those temps last week (a mild -4 compared to Canada) and it's the ONLY way to go! GREAT colour on you too.

Shannon, you look like a fab Earthy Prince! You wear browns well, although I know you aren't as happy wearing these shades. Do you wear thermals too?

Angie - I wear browns well? Really? I feel completely washed out in them...

As for thermals, definitely if I'm walking anywhere but for work days, I don't since I drive to and from work. But I do keep an extra pair of ski pants in the trunk of my car in case I run into car trouble and have to get out and walk anywhere - I can just pop those over my trousers or under a dress if need be.

As a girl who never passes by an opportunity to color-me-beautiful, I find these tonals browns rich and comforting. Not boring! Now, if you "feel" the need for color, you might try mixing in warm red and burgundy --- like is in your purse -- to keep it earthy, but amp it up.
