WIW to the World of Chocolate

The World of Chocolate is an event benefiting DH's former non-profit. It is as tasty an event as the name suggests. Just imagine a room filled with vendors promoting and competing for best chocolate creation. Some things were sweet, some were savory and everything was delicious.
This outfit was pre-planned. I loved the idea of it but I was a little disappointed that the waist of the skirt tended to ride up and settle right under my bust line which is pretty unflattering because I look as if I have no waist line. Not sure what I can do to prevent that moving forward with this outfit, but this is what it looked like before my skirt started traveling north.
Also the clutch is Asian inspired print in the shape of a fan. It was a gift from my best friend several years ago and it continues to bring me joy. Your feedback is appreciated. Happy weekend!

Oh, you look exquisite Day Vies. The lacy hose are so romantic.
I wish I had an insider tip on the waistband problem but all I can think is you need friction between the fabric of the shirt and skirt. If they are both slippery you're doomed.

Love your bag. I have a similar one that I adore. As always you look wonderful but I feel your pain with a north moving skirt! So frustrating!

Stellar outfit. I instantly thought "flamenco" when I opened the photos.

I love every single thing about this outfit: the whole thing and each individual piece equally. The bag is wonderful, so is the belt, they compliment each other perfectly. I generally find black/dark things worn under white/bright so challenging and difficult to make work. But somehow, this tank and the white button down were meant to be worn together. I love how your smile bookends the button-down

I hope you'll discover the thing behind the skirt waist issue and fix it, because this outfit formula must be repeated many times over. That's not a suggestion, but my expectation

You do look stunning. This is a beautiful outfit:). Not sure what to suggest in relation to the skirt riding up but it would be great to get it sorted because you need to wear this again.

You look great! So glamorous. I think the accessories - clutch, hose, belt 　- really pull this look together. You are brave to wear white to a chocolate event! (Although I'm sure you're less klutzy than me.)

Bummer about the skirt. I have a couple that do that, and it drives me bonkers (I find high waistbands really uncomfortable). You could try pinning it to your shirt maybe? Sometimes that works, but sometimes it just makes the shirt bunch up too.

I love this! Are those the same hose from your Thanksgiving outfit? They really seem to make everything look extra-special.

The only thing I can think of with the skirt is to make your belt as snug as it can be so it's anchored into place, but that probably works better for non-World-of-Chocolate events.

Sounds like a fun and tasty event! You look festive, but quite polished in you b/w ensemble. Love the layered "v" neck with the face framing white and the swirl ans swoosh of the skirt.

Little details, like the clutch, patterned hose and the waist detail are perfect for events in crowds -- I love a party look that makes an impact from afar, but reveals delicious detail up close. Those looks are hard to do well, but you're a master here!

I have a couple of skirt that do that, too, although I'm fortunate to be slightly long waisted, if a bit busty. The worst is the sweater that rides up because it's actually too stretchy. Aaaargh!

Aubergine - Yes! these are the same tights. They're just so pretty that I could not resist the urge to wear them again. This outfit was inspired by an every day outfit I have pinned of Carolina Hererra. I figured if it worked for her it could work for me.
As far as the skirt riding up, yep usually a very snug belt is my fix or as Lantana suggested to wear items that creates friction. The snug belt in this situation unfortunately was not "festive" enough for this situation. Well, the proportions were fabulous at least part of the time.

Mmm. Chocolate!!!!

I have the same Modcloth skirt I think and I ended up returning it because I had the same problem. I think there is a problem with the ratio of waist/hips in this skirt. That being said, if you nipped in the waist, maybe this would get rid of the problem?

Lyn -- I think you're right. I have hesitated having this skirt altered at the waist because I am afraid that the skirt will end up too narrow. Or that because I have a round tummy cinching the waist isn't going to help as the skirt will still slide up and down over my tummy or be too tight and look too tight. *Sigh*

You look stunning. I think that is the same skirt I tried, but it looked horrible on me - and it looks gorgeous on you! I don't know what to do about the waistband riding up, other than to make sure you aren't wearing a silky shirt, or to pin/belt it into place.

Another thought: a seamstress could dart the fullness of the skirt just below the waistband so it fits snugly at high hip. Then the skirt wont swizzle around. See where you hands are resting? There is fabric there that could be darted and you would not lose any fullness in the lower skirt at all. I have done this myself, not because the skirt was riding up but because it was just too bunchy at the waist.
I have CH on a style pedestal and have started pushing my sleeves up past my elbows as she does, managing to look businesslike yet elegant.

Very beautiful and ladylike! Love your skirt and I hope you can fix the riding up issue. Hope you spoilt yourself silly with all the chocolate goodies
