On the weekend I was in Toronto and my friend took me shopping to an amazing vintage store called The Thrill of the Find. http://thrillofthefind.com/

This is not Value Village or Goodwill. But this is vintage and new or nearly new couturier, designer, and high end ready-to-wear at Gap to Banana Republic prices.

Friends, I opened my wallet.

This polka dot jacket was my first purchase. It is by Catherine Curtis, a Canadian designer who, appropriately enough, originally hails from the city where I now live. http://www.catherinecurtis.ca/flash.html

It's a bit difficult to tell in the pics but the fit is superb.

ETA: I should have got a photo with the jacket done up as well. It has a really interesting front. The collar is a traditional one that can be popped (I see it is crooked in the pics - eep!) But instead of a lapel, there is just a plain V that goes to below the breast bone, and then the two little buttons. It is simple, but unusual and (I think) quite flattering.

Got my hair cut today, too. She went even shorter and I'm not entirely sold on it yet but will probably be happy with it once it settles down a bit.
