On Tuesday, I needed to go to the library. I prefer the downtown branch, as it has the most books! But the walk from the bus stop to the library is a couple of blocks, and those blocks frequently include men who feel the need to share their opinions of my looks with me. Through trial and error, I discovered I get the fewest cat calls when I wear skinnies instead of a full skirt or trousers. This is ironic, since they're much more body con than those other two, but my theory is that I blend in better with the other women around, who are always in skinnies or leggings-as-pants. That, and I think it's easier for me to switch to my 'don't mess with me' urban stride in skinnies, instead of having a skirt swishing around my hips with every step.

So here I am, dressing somewhat incognito, hehe. I'm still me, because the blouse is silk, and I pulled on similarly coloured hand knit socks, and I love corduroy and lace up boots. I added some of my favourite jewelry (one of my best friends & I made the necklace together, and the evil eye beads are a long time friend) and my newly knit hat, made especially for spring, so I've still got enough quirkiness to be perfectly happy, just a quieter quirkiness. This is a more mainstream version of me, if you will, including my sleekest coat (everyone here wears puffers instead of wool coats, or just stick with a hoody, like crazy people, lol).

I love this blouse, because it reminds me of mermaids and oceans and it floats about as I move through my day, but the hemline is much longer than I typically wear my blouses. I've been paying more attention to the way untucked tops & trousers interact lately, looking for my 'ideal' blouse hemlines, so let me know what you think of this length on me. Personally, I don't think it's as traditionally flattering as a shorter one, so feel free to say that! It won't hurt my feelings.

All other comments & feedback welcome too, as always!
