WIW Thurs and Fri with shoe indecision

Still as wintery as can be here! Brrr!

Thursday I improvised a bit from my planned outfit and was happy about how it turned out.

Brown-and-blue mini-checked pencil skirt: DKNY via consignment
Brown/gray/tan cowl-neck sweater: Luke via swap
Teal trapeze jacket: Talbots via consignment
Microfishnets in "mocha" (dark brown): Oroblu
Knee-high taupe suede boots: Jones New York
Teal Pumps: Madden Girl

Friday I abandoned my plan and made this outfit around a scarf I borrowed from my friend Amanda. (Hi, Amanda!!)

Fever pink pencil skirt: Halogen
Gray long-sleeved tee: Old Navy
Black ponte knit moto jacket: T Tahari
Tan belt: Swap
Scarf: Borrowed from a friend who got it from eBay
Gray tights: Target
Gray cowboy boots: Dan Post vintage (ca. 1984)
Gray ankle boots: Report
Black leather bag with chain details: Coach via eBay

as far as the shoes go, while I have been living in boots this week, I'm thinking you wouldn't take those suede boots out in the rain, so I'm going with the pumps for day 1 and the taller boots for day 2 (those are too fab for words!)

Holy cow. Really fantastic. I think that the last outfit may be my new all time favorite. It gave me a very strong visceral reaction, WOW. I would never have thought to put those colors together and so it just knocked my socks off ( thanks to you, my feet are now really cold. )

I'm going to go with the teal pumps for Thurs, b/c the boots seem to pull the outfit down making it little bottom heavy (although they are SENSATIONAL boots!), and the grey booties for Friday.

LISA and QUEEN MUM! Pumps and cowboy boots!

I had planned to wear the suede boots (the bottom "shoe" part is smooth leather and I've waterproofed 'em, so I'm not afraid of the rain), but like somebody said I felt like they made the outfit look too bottom-heavy. So I braved the elements in the pumps and fortunately the rain let up.

Today I went with the cowboy boots because (a) it tickled me to wear almost-25-year-old boots to work and (b) I felt like the top part of the outfit was a little bulky so I wanted a little more bulk on the bottom.

I kind of felt like today was the day I lost touch, once and for all, with the concept of "appropriate business wear," but you know what? I LOVED today's outfit and have felt awesome all day (especially with Lisa's pink trench over it all!). LOL There's a lesson in there somewhere...

You're so good it combining bold colors! I could learn a few things from you.

First outfit, I think you went with the teal shoes. I prefer the more tailored skirt with a more dressed up heel.

Second outfit, I hope you went with the booties. I'm not yet a fan of cowboy boots.

LOL about abandoning, once and for all, "appropriate business wear." I am also taking lots more fashion chances than I used to, and it feels great! I can't say enough about the pink pencil skirt and boots look (booties look fab too)--just smashingly fab.

Wow Mary all the outfits are great but I am loving all the post with the pink Halogen skirt. I am taking notes. I wish I could still wear my Tahari jacket it is too hot. That is a great ideal with the scarf picking up the color in the skirt. You look great.
