Hi Ladies,

Today I wore my Metalicus California Wrap Vest as an actual vest:) I have been enjoying it worn as a dress with the various options of securing it creating different looks.

Today was hot so I started with my Metalicus Soft Seamless Dress (very bodycon), layered a navy Target (Limited Editions range) sleeveless tunic over it and then layered the vest over that.

While I liked how it look and felt comfortable, I am unsure about the length. The dress sits just above the knee and I do think that is an 'appropriate' length but i am not sure. I think it was the short length and the heels together that make me question. Perhaps a flat sandal might work better?

Would appreciate your thoughts on this. And I am truly not offended if you feel it is too short.

Completely appropriate and utterly fabulous! LOVE! The layering is just so clever and that is a great length for summer.

Nice outfit! I love the drape. The length looks perfectly fine to me, as do the shoes. I like the open toe booties with it, too. I wonder what your Birks would like, as a change?

From the way you were seeming unsure of the length I was imagining a length of mid thigh or something similar! IMHO it's perfectly appropriate. Its just above you knees which is a great length and you look fabulous! Lovely creative layering. I'm also feeling the heat here in the UK, but with me it's just a hot flush! Lol!

I absolutely love what you have done with layering here Deborah. A favourite to be sure. And the dress is not too short in the slightest.

Just out of curiosity, are all those layers not hot in your climate right now?

Looks perfectly acceptable to me. Ditto what Elizabeth said, you say its hot, but then have THREE layers. Your definition of hot must be different to mine, lol.

Perfectly appropriate and what a beautiful layering job! Gorgeous blues!! But -- did it pass the sit test? Did you feel uncomfortable when you sat down?

Speaking of the layering, is it not warm to layer this way in the heat? Or are the fabrics all breathable enough that it is not a problem?

Creative dressing at its best! I don't think the dress is too short - it looks good to me for summer weather, and I think that flat sandals just give you another option!

Thanks so much for the feedback. It's the body con-ness of the under dress that made me concerned I think, the skirt of the dress is very fitted. I *knew* it wasn't really short but it 'felt' short or at least shorter than a lot of what I wear. I will definitely repeat and wear with confidence.. thankyou.

For those who asked about the heat and the layers... the under dress is very light, good coverage but a lovely fabric that is not too hot. The navy tunic is in a tshirt fabric and the vest is actually a wool blend. It is soft and not too heavy and will work through most seasons. I do feel the heat and actually don't cope well in high temps BUT I wore this to work, so apart from a short walk at lunch time, I was in the lovely arctic air conditioning all day so I was very comfortable. Also in my personal heat management, I note that what keeps me comfortable in the heat (as much as you can be) is having bare arms, toes and legs. So this outfit ticks the boxes.

Crutcher, I'm not suggesting that I always get it right, but I wonder if layering is in my DNA lol. I do find it remarkably easy and almost second nature to layer. The outfit started with the thought of wanting to wear something that hadn't been getting as much love as it should, so I pulled out the navy tunic and it all kind of fell into place. Maybe layering is my super power?!?

Deborah, this outfit is stunning on you. I love the high-low effect of the hem, created by the vest over the other layers. Not too short looking at all. I was wondering about the layers and the hot weather, too--sounds like this combination was perfect for your mix of indoor-outdoor time. And a very nice summer look for work!

I'm guessing you could wear the body-con dress and the tunic without the vest, too, for more casual day-off dressing. Maybe with your Birkalikes.

I love the way the Metalicus pieces stretch and breathe, and the dress length is excellent.
I wore my Pasadena pant in the heat yesterday and they were fine, and so comfy that I felt like I was in my PJs all day
