WIW Saturday night and Sunday, with sarah copycat

It turned out to be too chilly last night to wear my "leopard is a neutral" outfit out to a party as is (here: http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-a-neutral ) so I winterized it up with my J. Crew (via eBay) sailor striped top and beloved Asos red animal print scarf. Tried on every pair of shoes in my closet before settling on my Miss Me tan-and-cream oxfords. There's a lot going on in this outfit but it was a party and I felt good in it. (One of my friend's boyfriends observed, "You've got a whole Wild Kingdom thing goin' on there -- mrowr!" Which I took as a compliment! LOL)

Today I was dying to do my sarah white-clams-and-Target-chambray-shirt copycat, but it was still too cold so I winterized it into a denim-on-denim-on-denim look featuring my Gap white flares, Levi's trucker jacket, and the first outing of my Dooney red tote that I scored on eBay for an amazing price. Oh, and my red patent Madden Girl pumps. (And no, I haven't aged a decade overnight. I just skipped most of my makeup routine today!)

If anyone can pull off the array of pattern in #1, MaryK, it's you! To my eye, however, the striped layer looks like it wants to be a solid, in something boring like black, so that the two animal prints can really stand out against it.

Love the copycat outfit and the denim on denim. Your outfits always say "happy to be alive," which is a fabulous thing.

I am a pattern mixing phobe and the two animal prints need to grow on me a bit. I do like the outfit and it works but I doubt I would have been able to carry it off which is likely why I have doubts.

I really like the denim on denim with the white pants and the Dooney is very pretty. Very.

#4 is a great outfit for cool spring days. Making mental note to copy...

I think outfit #1 is fun, everything works together color and print wise to my eye. I'm kind of wishing the striped top were more fitted to show off your great shape (kind of like #3 does, even though it's not super-fitted). But it's a minor problem.

It's funny, because even though the holy-cow-there-sure-is-a-lot-going-on look in #1 isn't meeting with universal acclaim, I still am unreasonably happy with it. I loved wearing it and I love looking at the photo! That's one of the things I love about coming here and posting -- it's given me the ability to shrug my shoulders and go "Huh. This isn't everybody's cup of tea. I can live with that!"

#1 is clearly a happy outfit! It's good to dress for ourselves I'd also love to see you wear that sometime with your (#4) denim jacket instead of the leopard, or even *over* the leopard. . . !!

I'm loving the contrast with #3 - for total simplicity. I think I'm jumping on the chambray/whiteclam bandwagon too as soon as we get anywhere near a nice warm day. . .

I definitely love the striped top with the denim jacket! Here it is from back in February!

Ah. Good thinking! I wish I'd taken a photo of the party outfit with my blue outerwear jacket on top -- you would have loved it, I think!

Mary, I'm so flattered - what a compliment!!!! Tee-hee! Now, if I could just find some white flares that fit my muscular thighs, I could copy your copycat! I think #1 is fun - I think I actually prefer it to the royal blue.

I love 3 and 4. Did you get the Gap jeans this year I need a pair. They look so good on you and that red purse is fab.

I bought them in December. They are the high rise trouser jeans, which don't appear to be in stock any more. But they have the long and lean jeans and several other styles in white!

I like #1, since the prints are against basic solid colors (brown, red, white) this look really works for me. I love the copycat look with the flared white pants, it looks spring, and warm all at once. And nothing beats a red bag.

I agree that if anyone can pull off #1 it is you! You are a pattern mixing genius! I would probably agree that I would maybe have done a solid instead of a stripes shirt, but I think what really matters is that you love it and felt great in it! Love both 3 and 4, I really need to find a chambray shirt that fits well!
