ok...while i felt really good in these outfits while i wore them out and about, i think each one could be tweaked.

1. red and spectators: angie...avert your eyes...the pants are too short for your eye. tuck or untucked? pants too tight?

2. white and neon: i liked this outfit in theory. in the photos, i may need to retire that top to lounge wear. and the pants are still too tight.

3. bruise and meow: i think shannon tried this helmut dress in "bruise". target sandals from eons. how i do leopard. this dress is comfy...though again, not as flattering as in my head.

4: navy and studs: that is navy not black. surprisingly, i really like the silk charmeuse. usually not big on satin. if i am mistaken, please correct me! those are the rockstuds sandals version.

5: blue and teal: those pants are actually closer to a teal. hard to photo. hand me down sandals.

i wore all but #3 to work (oh the shame of #2 in retrospect). #3 to a casual party.

please, need help tweaking these. i think my weight is distorting my eye. i'm dressing for a smaller body than the current reality.

My favorites are #2 and #4, with #4 in the lead.

The pants in #2 don't look too tight.

Okay, now that I have somewhat recovered....

1. Love spectators so much and that crisp shirt that I do not have any clue about pants. I think if tucked I would want to see a belt, and untucked looks good.

2. Tough call. I have a feeling this is one of those where the top looks better in person. Is it well-loved and older?

3. I love the dress. And I love the sandals. But I think a little wedge or heel would make you feel the dress flatters more. If that makes sense.

4. I saw those sandals when I was shopping yesterday...droolworthy! Love this outfit.

So....let's think about what felt wrong. If it's mainly fit, and you don't feel good, maybe it is time to shop for the beautiful you that is? OTOH, if it's a question of missing something to achieve your aspirational style, then let's consider what that might be. Because there are no toppers, maybe you are longing for a bit of a structured element? Which can be very difficult in summer, I know.

Those are my faves too! #2 and #4 are KILLER.

Yup. The pants in #1 need to be shortened to my eye. But not too tight. Body con in a very flattering way. I prefer tucked :). Gorgeously elegant shoes with matching handbag.

#5 is sweet!

I agree with Anna, I like #2 and #4 the best, and the pants in #2 don't look too tight. Were you worried about a different view than you showed us? I like your tops untucked the best. Something about the proportions. I also like a bit of flow in your look.

Sorry! You meant are the white pants too tight - not the red. Well. Personally I prefer skinnies to fit looser all over - especially white skinnies. They make us look more chic and definitely more refined - to my eye anyway. That said, the extra tight skinny is still on trend and very popular. So in that respect, they aren't too tight. It's "a look" so to speak.

LOL angie, i knew what you meant.

a general question, sometimes purses make the outfit or integrate disparate pieces. take the red pants outfit. i think it's less special without the purse. but i dont' walk around with the purse. should i make the core outfit stand alone, but then the purse is superfluous?

i think this is why i am not a bag lady.

I have nice bags even designer bags, but am not a bag lady I've finally realized. I almost never photograph them in my WIW's.

There have to be shoe ladies and bag ladies. I'll be bag ladies for both of you. You can wear the shoes for me.

OF COURSE, the outfit has to stand alone and feel fab sans the bag. I walk around in my outfits a lot with my bag, so they are often part of the look. But we always photograph my outfits sans the bag too - because I wear them that way when I put my bag down.

anna, you and me both. i don't swap bags frequently, and especially not work bags. otherwise, i would forget to bring half my stuff!

I am quite happy for you to send me the white top and the helmut dress if that helps lol. bj while I think you look great, I do relate as I am put on a little weight and it is definitely skewing how I see some outfits. #2, 3 & 5 are totally standout in my opinion. The dress is stunning. And you do have some great footwear.

Spent some time thinkingnabout your comments. I don't want this size to dictate my clothing choices. Stubborn, i know. Also, the slouchy style to me emphasizes my size. I would feel more comfortable with sizing up on the bottom if i felt i was my usual size.

I would have worn heels with that dress or sneaks. These sandals are neither here nor there.

That white top may need an underlayer to be more opaque and more "white." Also i feel this outfit is a bit unbalanced. Heavy on the white, looks "flat"...kwim?
