WIW: purple tonal, pattern mixing

These are the outfits from the past two days. The second one, purple tonal, was a movie night out with female friend since I would not dare wear it to work. I got the colored skinnies for a steal at Express -they are running double deals (promo+coupon) like crazy these days. I really like the fact that they are full length, not cropped, and the material of this particular pair is divine - thick, with a bit of a peachy feel. However, I am a bit bummed with the color misrepresentation on their website - the colors are much brighter in reality then they appear online! The stock photo looks much lighter and with more of a blue undertone. This color is sort of between pink and purple - I still like it, but I am a bit confused about which other colors (not neutrals) it would go well with. What do you think? A second pair of skinnies that I got as a package deal looked light, baby blue on screen and is very bright turquoise in reality ! I am still trying to decide if I should keep them or not. And I apologize for the wrinkles on the blouse, the photo was taken after I got home and the silk did not survive the theater well.

The third outfit is built around an old BCBG color-block top. I was inspired by Angie's " pattern mixing light" blog post where she recommended mixing color block with stripes.

#1/2: Dark chambray shirt -Express, microcheck pants - Club Monaco, red leather mot jacket -VS, polka-dot scarf - Express, purple patent loafers - Me Too
#3/4: purple silk blouse - VS, lavender (?) skinnies - Express, eggplant suede wedges - Me Too, grey leather mot jacket - NAS, pewter cross-body bag - The Sak
#5/6/7 - color block top - BCBG, cream skinnies -7FAMK, striped jacket - Express, pewter wedges - Me Too, emerald scarf - ?

The one thing I really notice with all of your outfits Tanya is the impeccable fit of every item! Really fantastic. These are all so beautiful but I'm especially drawn to pic #6.

#7 is really great with the green scarf. It's kind of a different pop color. I like it! The purple tonal outfit is also great - I don't know what other colors to wear with it either, though. The only one that comes to me is yellow. Maybe just a bright bangle or belt with a white shirt.

I *really* like the color of the skinnies on you. I know they are brighter than what you usually wear - you rock neutrals and soft shades so well - but Angie's right, you look lovely in pinks and purples, and it's fun to see you in brighter shades (especially in combination with metallics, another "hue" that always makes me think of you.) I hope that you don't feel insecure in them due to the color, because you only stand out for GOOD reason!

Edited to add: I like the pairing of the skinnies with the purple top, and could see mustardy/marigold yellow or any cream/white shades looking great, and chambray/denim is going to look fabulous too.

So, it looks that the skinnies are more pink than purple. That is OK, even though I really wanted them to be purple. And thank you for the suggestions. It looks to be that I will be wearing them to work with denim/chambray/neutrals, as I own almost no orange/coral and yellow. Not a big deal, that would probably be too bright for work anyway,. I have also forgotten to mention that a random guy on the street yelled that he loves my outfit as I was passing by - the tonal purple one

You have an outstanding ability to coordinate colors Tanya. I mean, there is nothing predictable about them and they all work beautifully. Thank you for showing all of your layers. I love the way your completed outfits look in #2 and #7. I admit I am a little thrown off by the shiny bag in #4, but I love the two pink/purple separates and jacket worn with this outfit.

(The bronze bag issue is that my brain has trouble processing more than three colors in an outfit, unless the 4th color is a small item like a belt or bracelet or necklace. So take that inability to process multiple colors with a grain of salt.)

Thank you Coco Lion! The bag is pewter actually, not bronze, kind of a mate silver if that makes sense.

I do care a lot about fit, and if it is more than just a bit off I have learned the hard way that the item will just sit in my closet and I will not wear it. So my tailor gets visited quite often

I love the fit of your new skinny jeans. I guess I need to check out Express more often. I've been searching for a yellow pair but just haven't found anything yet. Usually the denim seems to be too thin. I also love the striped blazer with green scarf in #7. Great outfit!
