WIW - picture testing

So I had time this morning to see if I could figure out where and how to take quick outfit photos. Here's the result from today. I'm wearing a leopard print ruffled shirt over a black sheath dress, brown wool tights, and my all-purpose Rockporrt black boots, because it's raining. Is the dress too short? I feel like my chicken legs are showing! And that's a nightlight growing out of my left calf.

ETA: Honesty welcomed. I'm nervous about my first WIW, but I'm also looking forward to constructive criticism!

How cute are you! Great outfit. Simple and stylish with some edge. Love the boots. I like it with tights but you could also go with a less opaque hose. So good to finally "see" you!

Jen, there's a really easy thing to click on when you start a post or reply, that says "add a photo", just below where you write your text. The hard part for me is taking the picture and then uploading. I uploaded directly from the camera to save time. Good luck!

Thanks for replying! I'm feeling dumb here, but there isn't that button. I clicked on start a conversation, and after where you write it only says submit. Sorry to go off topic here!

alaskagirl-You (and your legs) look great.

jen321-From the forum select "start a new conversation" Underneath the Category pull down menu and above the submit button is a box with text that says add a photo. When you put the cursor over it, it turns pink. Click the box and a pop up appears for you to select where to access the photo from (desktop etc) Hope that helps.

I like your outfit a lot! I don't think the dress is too short, especially since you have tights on.

I might add some gold jewelery like a long necklace and/or earrings to polish it off.

Yay, a photo from AG! It is nice to "see" you. You have awesome legs and I love your haircut. That outfit is great. The blouse has just the right length.

Great look Alaskagirl! i feel that the black tights are giving you plenty of coverage with the tall boots. so even though the skirt is a touch short (for, say, work) you are saving the day by not showing actual skin. the v of the blouse is also keeping the closed neckline from making you look to stodgy. good balance overall.

i love this haircut on you! time to update the avatar, no? (says the lady whose avatar is her dog, lol) i'm planning to take my picture after work. i have no time in the morning for that. maybe i'll try it with sunglasses. you guys look so chic in your sunglass indoors pics. lol.

Lady, the sunglasses help me feel less dorky in front of the camera... There is absolutely NO need for them today weather-wise!

Re: legs: I am somewhat knock-kneed (or bowlegged), which makes me self-conscious, so thank you all for the warm and confidence-boosting words!

Jen321, I believe that once you reach active member status, you will be able to post pictures when you create a post. I think that with member status, you can still post pictures, but you need to make a post then go back in to edit it, and during the editing you are allowed to post pics. Hope that helps (and that it makes sense!).

Well hello there, AG! What's there not to like about this outfit? Leopard print is a nice scale and not overpowering. Black sheath is a classic basic. Sunnies, boots and tights add the hotness factor. : )

My only tiny critique is the ruffles at the end of the sleeve. It might date your blouse just a small bit. However, I don't think it ruins the outfit at all and that should be an easy alteration if you feel it needs to be changed.

So glad you finally decided to join the posting party! Keep those pics coming!

Yay - you posted a WIW - well done AG! It sure is a scary thing to do for the first time, isn't it? Whenever I post a WIW, half the time I read replies half squinting, because I'm unsure of what the consensus will be. Still, I'm finding it really fun to go on a style journey, even if it is sometimes a bumpy ride!

Your outfit is lovely. You have wonderful legs and fabulous, shiny hair, you lucky thing!

[PS - Just read your second comment. Bow-legged? Pffffffffffft. Time to re-evaluate yourself, 'cause that is certainly not what I am seeing on the other side of the world!]

Aw. thank you all so much for your sweet comments! This is the best forum for positive vibes. AJ, thanks for the heads-up on the ruffled sleeves. I rarely wear ruffles, so this is not a typical look for me.

You know, I've realized it is so hard for me to tell what looks dated in Alaska. People often ask me what the time difference here is and I'll say, "oh, we're about 15 years behind". No joke. Women here still wear those high-waisted pleated Lee jeans from the 80s, and not in an ironic way. It's nice that people don't judge on what you look like, but it can also be a major fashion challenge when you're "current" and no one appreciates it! That's one of the reasons I love it here!
