WIW pairing black and blue

Angie mentioned pairing black and blue in a post the other day and straightaway I wanted to give it a try.
I wore the first outfit to dinner with friends last night and the second, which is actually blue on blue, today.
I felt very happy with both and I would love to know your opinion. Once I saw the photos I thought oops, that's not PPL but what is the deal with PPL when pants taper at the ankle?

black merino and cashmere turtleneck - Woolovers
navy pants -Veronika Maine
navy silk blouse - Lands End Canvas
grey belt and booties - thrifted
mabe pearl ring & pearl studs

This is very simple and plain; what's your verdict? Be blunt, I'm not squeamish.

Hello you gorgeous thing. I think the pants would look better with a flat shoe - they look a little short with your fab boots Love the top half in both photos & your bag is fab.

Simple, elegant fabness through and through! You look terrific. The belt is a beautiful accent. I agree with Caro on the pant length, but you could also go shorter. I had a cropped pant shortened, so it now looks intentional with boots instead of just too short.

Caro and Ingunn, thankyou for your suggestions. Flat shoes will be the go because I don't want to change the pant length.
Trouble is, I really like that grey. I wonder what my chances are of finding pointy toed grey flats?
Caro, I am hoping for a town trip on my tod really soon. I've been back and forth for the grandkids' footy and netball matches with no time for aught else and that's finally ground to a halt.

Aint spring grand?

Black and blue is one of my favourite combinations from YLF. And your addition of grey adds a sophisticated twist to the trendy black, white and blue. Pity the pants are not quite right for these boots. Buy fingers crossed for grey ankle boots or similar for you. Yhid combo is too cool to languish for lack of a slipper.

ManidipaM, "too cool to languish"-I love that. You know, my mirror told me the boots were OK but I knew straightaway from the photo that they were too high.
Darn.
I shall have to buy new shoes.

Love how the boots pick up your hair! I agree the pants look a little too short with the boots. If they were booties, I would suggest tucking into them!

I agree the pants look a little too short with the boots. It's a shame. Is there any seam allowance to let down? If they scrunched a bit, they would be fine with these.

Well I was waiting for Angie's reply on that tricky PPL. I'm glad to read that she thinks this is fine as that means a tapered trouser is a lot more versatile for different heel lengths. I love this color combo on you.

YLF!!!!!! Both outfits are show-stoppers, but my personal fav is No 1! The steel grey booties sets it off to me and really pulls in your gorgeous hair color as Ceit mentioned! Stunning & classic!! BRAVO!!!

Breathtaking! Simple and oozing style. I think the pant length is fine given they are tapered. I think what bothers your eye is simply the high contrast between the shoe and the pants...just need your eye to adjust. A darker bootie would of course "elongate" the leg but I don't think it's necessary. Black and blue is gorgeous together and this is lovely!

Oh dear, so late to the party as usual. This is the most stunning outfit on you. If Angie says the pants are PPL then these outfits are a 10 out of 10. Grey belt and booties are stunning, and thrifted! Good grief, well done.
