WIW: Olive, Navy, claret and cognac

I had a lovely springtime outfit planned out today of ivory, dove grey and Blush... And then I saw that it had snowed almost a foot overnight. Sigh.
I used it as am excuse to pull out a combo I haven't worn much this year: my old uniform of J crew pencil skirt, silk blouse and Tippi sweater. I loved in this when I came back from mat leave for my first, and added flair with unexpected colour combinations, but now I have moved away from a lot of colour and it just feels too stuffy and prim for me. Still, I love the look of a tailored pencil skirt, and the tops are so comfy while still looking dressy. Any advice on how to incorporate these pieces into an edgier and more current style? I have at least 10 of each!

Thanks so much @bettycrocker! navy, olive and cognac is a favourite colour combo of mine, but one i hardly ever wear, for some reason.

I'd wear them if I could. They're too dark for me. I'd have to put a lighter color with them or something.

Love these colours and the layers. I feel its actually got quite a lot of edge, this outfit, with the sharp collar and chain necklace.

I'm not sure I'd change a thing, quite frankly. This is a really interesting look, great colours, and it looks modern and cool to me.

I saw you link to this thread from my thread but thought it was old, so I didn't comment.

Anyway, I love the deeper makeup on you. I've seen you in more pastel shades and they look good too. I think you must be one of these people who can pull off any colour!

I think you could wear those high shaft, block heel boots for a bit of up-to-the-minute trendiness. Maybe some of that subtle, fishnet hose I've seen others wear.

I love what you're wearing! The colours are really yummy.

All of the pieces in your outfit could easily be combined with other things from your wardrobe too. The sweater with cropped jeans for instance. The skirt with a leather jacket and high shaft booties. The shirt semi tucked into white jeans and paired with ankle strap shoes... You should have a little play in your closet

This is a great look, up to date and flattering on you. It's perfect for the return of snow. I am in olive and black today for the same reasons. I agree with Diane that you could easily work these pieces through transitioning looks.
