WIW: Olive drape and white - YouLookFab Forum

As a lot of you know, I'm not one for wearing much in the way of drape as I do like a bit of structure, but I do love a cowl neckline and the drape of the cowl on this lightweight linen mix sweater really spoke to me. The knit is very mesh-like and cool, perfect for a breezy yet humid day as we have in the UK today. I was inspired by Aida to pair olive with white, so white jeans it had to be, plus a layering strappy cami for modesty. I chose nude cage style sandals for leg lengthening and just accessorised with one very delicate gold necklace which was a 21st birthday present (so I've only had it a couple of years ;)). I've a day of errands and a couple of customers to see today and I feel very comfortable and easy in this outfit. I've included some close ups of sandals necklace and knit texture for those of you who like to see details.

Wow, I love the combo of olive and white on you! You look fantastic. I like how the top drapes down on the sides and up in the center. I am bookmarking this as one of my favs. An olive top is now on my summer sewing list!

Snap! I love cowl necks too! The weave in the top is so very lovely; so delicate (clearly I am one who loves the detail!). And the gold dragonfly is a perfect accessory as it is small and dainty. Gorgeous!

Karie, it's quite a simple shape to sew I think. There's actually a seam right down the middle of the front. It would be nice in a very fine jersey wouldn't it?.

Oh to be so young I remember when I like the flow of this outfit. Very lovely the shade of olive compliments your skin tone and it is really a beautiful top. What a wonderful top! The color is so flattering on you and the the drape and front ruching are so interesting - almost like a built in semi-tuck. Excellent combination with the white jeans and cage sandals. Really, really nice!

Angie, thank you! I would love to duplicate the top. I can't get the style anymore from White Stuff, but if I could find a suitable fabric it would be easy to sew.

Gracie, I will keep doing a few close up detail shots from now on I think, thanks. Oh, BTW, a little tip I've learned for WIW's is to put my camera and tripod further back and then to zoom in a little. It gets rid of figure distortion and my proportions look right. I have the camera a touch below waist height.

Oh how lovely! Glad to have inspired this combo because it looks super Very cool architecture on the top with the center seam, and how it affects the cowl. The nude cage sandals are a fun addition, I really like the extra bit of skin from the higher hem roll too. It's also very nice to see a warmer olive shade, as most of the time they are on the cool end.

Oh, I'm glad you approve Aida Yes, you're right, the olive is quite a warm tone, I'm glad to say, as I do prefer warmer colours. Good point about the architecture. You have such a keen eye.
