WIW: Not-So-Dangerous Curves Ahead

I LOVE curved hems on shirts! I can show a lot more leg without tucking, and since the operative word is "curve," there are no harsh horizontal lines to chop me up. Same with this jacket - the closure moves the waist up my my natural waist without a belt, and the curved hems all playing together make me smile. Pendant du jour is a blingy Chococat necklace from my mom. I'd been avoiding the girly rhinestoned cat head, but now that I feel more secure in my style, it can come out with no worries.

Bonus pic of me trying on an orange skirt when I returned my AT silk shirts. It fit well but I ended up passing because it felt too long to wear with boots. I don't know if I'm still considering it or not - I can always get a petite, but I haven't determined if it is a "need." On the other hand, it is one of my signature colors, and I can't do the Halogen pencil skirt...

I love the lines of the shirt tail and jacket on you! I have recently come to the same conclusion (since I'm wearing a lot of button front shirts now). It's a great way to create curves while showing more leg on the side and you're right, it's less choppy than a straight hem. I love jackets with that cut, too. IDK what it's called, but the low stance and curved sides makes me think of it as a "cut away" jacket. Super, duper flattering and verrrrry dangerous Rae! Mom's blingy gift makes me smile. At least it's a cat!

I LOVE the orange skirt on you, even at the regular length. It is crying out for pumps though, and I know you like to wear boots, so maybe it's better to try the petite. Orange won't be in forever, and this skirt would serve you for years. Just sayin'.

Fabulous! I agree wholeheartedly about this. I am wearing a straight hem shirt today (in my pics) and was just thinking it chopped me in half. The only thing that saves it really is that it's quite fitted and has side slits. But a curved hem works best. I also love this with the little jacket.

I think you ought to try that skirt in the petite and see how it fits. The colour is so perfect.

I think you could wear the skirt with shorter boots or pumps. Are you totally off of those these days?

Loving the soft curves in this outfit Rae and how the long sleeves show under the shorter sleeves. I love the orange skirt too and think it's worth trying in petite. I can definitely see this in your wardrobe.

Rae, I think you should try your boots with the regular length skirt. Last time I wore a skirt and boots, the skirt came to just below the tops of the boots and I thought it looked great. You'll show just a peek of skin with the pictured skirt.

Claire, I think it *is* called a cutaway hem. I guess I should have looked it up!

Suz, you have me wondering - are curved hems especially useful when it's too hot to layer? With two layers, you can stagger the hems so that you aren't so cut in half, but heat often takes that option away.

Rita, I only wear my pumps when I have to. I still like the look, but I'm so much more of a grump about keeping my feet warm and comfy these days.

Julie, I have a skirt this length at home, and I know I can't wear with tall boots. I've tried, and it just looks like I have no knees.

Hmmm, "curved hems for when it's too hot to layer". Must consider this!

I am loving today's outfit big time.That blazer fits perfectly and the map bag is so much fun.
About the skirt, nah, I am not loving how it fits in front. It makes you look as if you have a little pooch, and trust me, there is no pooch in there! it could be the photo and the lighting, however.

I think you might be right, Rae. At least I'm going to consider this for my summer shirts. I think most of mine do have curved hems...just a couple with straight. And both of those very fitted shirts so at least they show waist definition. The proportions thing is a constant issue for me; much more so than body type. This will be my year of figuring it out, I know!

The blouse and jacket look awesome together! I love the curved hemlines too. The skirt is also very nice and I think as long as there is about an inch between the boots and the hem it would work great with boots. Maybe also with a slouchy sweater and your shorter Mia's? Cute ChocoKitty!
