WiW new tweed skirt with zipper :-)

I needed a tweed skirt for winter because I purged two tweed skirts (and two wintery dresses) during after last winter season. They were well worn, but still in good shape - though too tight around the tummy area. I loved them both, so it took some time to part. But I know it is liberating in the end.

This is my new tweed skirt and I really love the zipper I've been wearing this quite a lot, and like to wear it with this Theory silk top because of the juxtaposition between the fabrics. Then I add a wool cardi, short or long. If I were having lectures, I'd add a blazer on top.

Any suggestions for other top?
Is the skirt a bit short for lectures? (I think the work wear code is business casual or smart casual)

The skirt is wonderful! I think you did great pairing it with a completely different fabric. Maybe you could try a lace top? Or maybe, you could keep the outfit in neutral tones (black, white, grey) and add a pop of colour with tights? I was thinking mustard, brick red, teal... I also like the idea of pairing a pencil skirt with a chunky sweater, but that is probably not allowed, considering the dress code you gave. I also think this type of skirt would look fabulous if combined with a cardigan/shorter coat and a faux fur collar. Oh, and the length is perfectly OK!

I love it with the long cardigan, it looks so nice and cozy. Like Rabbit Heart I can see that skirt with any number of colors, it looks so versatile.

Very happy you like it! And thanks for great suggestions about keeping it neutral and adding colour tights I love that! I don't have a lace top, and I find lace very hard because I never feel comfortable in it. It might be too feminine and not RATE enough. Ans I get the bad 80's vibe

Pencil + chunky sweater looks so great on others (especially those with a strong shoulder line), but I feel more like a lump and not sharp enough. I think it is something with my slightly sloping shoulder line and apple shape.

harmonica, I'm glad that you like the idea with tights, because I'm a tights junkie and I wear a different colour almost every day (sometimes interspersed with nude coloured tights to look more serious)!

I love this. Love the zipper, love the tweed, love the top, love the juxtapositions.

I think with tights the skirt is not too short. The effect is so different when you are not wearing tights. I always feel I can get away with shorter as long as the tights are on.

One of the reasons why I like black opaque tights are exactly that I can show some leg without showing. And if the skirt rides up a bit when I sit, I'm still covered But I don't like it too short anyway, so glad to know this is YLF approved

I love the exposed zipper. I like the way you are wearing the skirt here. The soft blouse contrast with the tweed skirt is very nice. You could wear a high meow top over the skirt. Or a fitted jacket. Would your red Zara jacket work over it?

Deborah - thanks for looking and I always appreciate your suggestions so much! Probably a very silly question - but what is a high meow top? Is it a top with a cat print in front?
I agree that a fitted jacket would be great. The red/orange one from Zara is put away because I thought it was a spring/summer item, but I'll definitely give it a go nevertheless.

What a great skirt! I think the length works with the dark tights . Your red orange jacket sounds like it would be fun to try. You might also try patterned silky blouses...winter florals, leopard, Baroque, etc. A leather or even short furry vest is another idea.

Love this skirt on you Harmonica! The fit is beautiful on you and I love the zipper detail. I don't think it's too short for work with tights. I like the pairing with the soft, drapey blouse - beautiful!

Thanks Joy and Shannon! SO many great suggestions!! There are mostly white blouses (and some casual plaid shirts) in my wardrobe, but I'll take a look at my scarves and see if I can add some pattern. Winter florals sounds wonderful!
